Mike Chernecki Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I just picked up an unbuild MPC "Mild & Wild" 1971 Impala at a flea market. I am not too familiar with this kit. Is it rare, has it been reissued, etc?
sak Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Flea markets are the best places to look. And the only places I buy my kits. Even scour the antique stores. Sometimes they have a few kicking around. Price range from only a few dollars to 10 dollars I have found, unless its a dealer selling something obviously vintage. But most of the time, the vendors just assume its a 90's era kit and charge about 10. I usually haggle the half built, pieces missing kits to a few bucks, great for spare parts. Jeff
Zoom Zoom Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Great find, quite rare even when new. I never found one until early '72 on a Woolworth's half-price table of last year's kits...I got many from that table That one was molded in red. In the past 20 years I bought a pair of restorables, both were in white.
Mike Chernecki Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) I was never a fan of this year Impala, I prefer '67 and older. I have never seen the "Mild & wild" kits and bought this just because the boxart is so cool. This one is molded in red. Price was a steal for sure. Also picked up an amt 1/32 '63 Corvette (1967 issue) for a couple dollers at the same time. Edited October 29, 2009 by Mike Chernecki
Eshaver Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Glad you found something you liked ! Meanwhile the 1-1 car was akin to Elvis Presley ..... too many Peanut Butter and Bannna sandwiches for me . I always prefered the 1965-6-7-and 8 Impalas ! Ed Shaver
lonewolf01 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 if his rare then the 71 grand prix i got should be golden
