For the second time in as many weeks I have screwed up a beautiful Tangelo pearl paint job...

last one went in the Purple Pond.

I want to try and salvage this one as I am now running low on the paint.

I was spraying today and an insect decided it would look great as part of the paint job

I removed the culprit before the paint was dry but now I have a "divot" in the paint.

Can pearl be repaired and touched up? Can this be saved or should I strip and repaint???

I sprayed with the HOK cans (walmart stuff).

I am thinking of spraying in a cup and using that like 1:1 touch up paint.

Think that will work?

Touchups like that usually look awful on a real car, so it probably will look more awful on a model which is much smaller & the touchup much larger. But at this point you really have nothing to lose.

That Kustom Kolor paint is awful stuff, there's good reason it's not available any more. They poisoned the HOK name w/that garbage. It is NOT HOK paint...it was just crappy paint by "the makers of HOK paint".

Relying on spray can paint that's not sold anymore that also is well-known to cause big problems (cracks when re-applied or cleared over) is pretty risky...I'd say you might want to strip it again if your touchup doesn't work, and get & use some real paint.

Glenn, he's right about that being nasty stuff. About two years ago I used it on a '55 Chevy and thought it was great....went ahead and foiled it and glued the windows in. About a week later, it had these vertical cracks all the way around. I just put it away and haven't looked at it since.

Anyway...another thought, depending on where your bug landed, is maybe some stripes or decals? Good luck! Call me sometime!

I am thinking about flaming it if the fix does not work...

But I am gonna wait to see if it cracks first...
