935k3 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) My latest work, Tamiya's Peugeot 307 WRC. Paint on the body is Duplicolor DSC351 Flash Red, the white stripes are Krylon airbrushed over the red. The kit has decals for the stripes but paint is more solid looking. I will be using aftermarket tobacco markings by Tabu design, they specialize in nothing but tobacco markings. Various manufacturers composite decals were used. Edited November 11, 2009 by 935k3
belowambient Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 awesome work!!! where did you get all the parts to make it look like that?
dwc43 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Looks great except for those seat belts. The shoulder harness would never go back that far. Belts are kept as short as possible and the shoulder harness should be at a 45* angle downward. That's from Simpsons own mounting instructions. I build and race cars, and safety is the most important part to me, so that's why I caught that.

I appreciate your criticism but you don't seem to know allot about rally cars this is very typical and here is a pic to prove it. Edited November 7, 2009 by 935k3

Yeah, that's not too bad there. The angle is not as good as it should be, but it's not too long. Your belts are pretty long, but it does look like the cars scale maybe off compared to that pic. I race a car in the NASCAR G.N. Sportsman div. just for reference. Regardless of class, the mounting arrangements remain the same. That's what got earnhardt killed after all. Improper seat belt mounting. When Schrader hit him the passenger door, his left side belt was ripped by the adjuster, his body turned and went forward striking the temple area of his helmet onto the steering wheel which just happened to have one of the spokes at that position where he hit. He hit the wheel so hard it bent it over and those are steel spoke wheels by the rules. He had a crack in the skull from the temple, over the ear, all the way to the basil area and that's what killed him.

Great Info I did not know the final ruling on that crash, It was the Last race I watched. After that, I just didn't care to watch anymore. Mmmm, Go figure.. And knowing is half the Battle.. Plus ya can never know too much.. But back on topic. Great looking Detailing on the Interior and the Body Paint looks Fantastic..

That was the last raced that I attended in person too. I was sitting near the flag stand when it happened. I even managed to get a couple pics of it. It looked like no big deal. Only thing that struck me funny about it was that Schraeder hit him hard enough in the RR to brake the rear tire off of the axle and was kinda stuck to the car till they parted in the grass. We did not know he was dead till on the drive back from the track. I still watch them on tv when I have the time, but I don't like the new cars and it's pretty much an IROC race now. I've got a 300 pg report somewhere around here that tells the whole investigation with color pics. NASCAR did a computer model, then built a car and crashed it and it bent within and inch or two in every place the computer model and e's real car bent during the crash. They did not miss a thing. The photos look like csi pics with rulers around the bent steering wheel and ripped seat belts covered in blood and all.
935k3 Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) Started doing some decals. To the "expert" on seatbelts please do not talk about cars you know nothing about and do not use my thread to discuss Earnhardts death, this the model cars work in progress area. Brendan Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Everything looks great. Everything that I have for references looks dead on. Outstanding job with the decals as well. I just wish Tamiya would make these kits with full engine detail.
dwc43 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 To the "expert" on seatbelts please do not talk about cars you know nothing about Never would consider it my friend. Just never would. If your ever in Tn, you should drop by our race shop and see some of the real 1to1 cars we build.
