codie27 Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 here is my custom pete based on the revell 359 kit. i was fairly disappointed with the detail of this kit from the box so i decided to have a go at building myself a custom show truck. i made a huge number of mods on this kit so i wont list all them, but here are a few of them. i removed the cab and sleeper then chopped the cab roof and then glued the sleeper back on so it would sit lower over the chassis, also had to build both floors. then i cut the doors out and made hinges, converting them to suicide style. removed all marker lights and horns. built a longer bonnet and custom style guards(front and rear) lengthened, lowered and smoothed the chassis. i also built a small storage area under the bunk in the sleeper cab. the front bumper i made from flat aluminium sheet and for the exhausts i used thick brass tube to give that large diameter look. i thought the brass would be a nice contrast with the yellow paint and i think it turned out quite nice.
Sixties Sam Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Very nice truck! I like the fender treatment and the brass pipes are great! Ground clearance looks a little low - that front bumper might scrape! Or does it have air bags to pump up for driving?
