CB Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Seein' all the cool buildem ups hereabouts of rods built outa spare parts I just hadta do one too. Checked out my stasheroonie and finally decided I'd grab the frame & running gear outa the 53 Ford mod hauler, slap it together stock and see what happen next. Founded everthing but the front axle (think that's on a 37 Chebby somewhere), didn't like the wheels & tires, so started raiding other parts boxes, found some chrome steelies with baby moons, couple Michelins fer the front & couple Goodlyear slix fer the back. Gathered some 49 Ford interior parts to consider as well. Using front axle from the 55 Chevy pu, as well as the springs front & back. Usin' the stock flattie outa the 53 also. Got it up on them baby moons..... .....and started settin' bodies on. Don't wanna do any mods to the frame. Kinda like this here Vicky in a way.........and not. So then set this here tub on ..........I don' know.... .......then I 'membered this here 37PD Now dat might have possiblilities! Then things started gettin' all warm & fuzzy and I got this here idea! Got me a buncha Woodies and a 34 pu inna trade, so grabbed the bed off'n it, whacked it and we's going with this here. Cracked open one them Woodies, popped the seats outa it & they felled right in place Gotta come up with some kinda grille fer it now........ Edited December 13, 2009 by CB
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 WHAT. You're gonna use baby moons ? I don't want to hear ya ever give me any lip about my baby moon caps
george 53 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Capt'n the ONLY thing bothrin me is da wheelarch inna back. Couldja fill it in or sumpthin? It doos interfeares with the flowin lines ob it ,in MY opinion. It would look like a LIMO pickem up! But yas do gots ya sompthin goin there Daddy-O. DON'T let the skwirril & Co. find out though, they MIGHT EAT it!!!!
Foxer Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 The last shot looks like major interior fun fodder...
Fletch Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 One thing that can never be said Brother John, is that none of your builds are conventional. Wild and outrageous but never conventional . Should be very interesting.
sdrodder Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 wow that thing is out of this world. Its an interesting concept of that tub. It will be an interesting outcome for sure. Keep it up

I be willin' to bet all them nekid chickens what Gramps stoled thier feathers off'n fer his painty brushes would'n be agreein with his way o'thinkin 'Course, then we would'n get to see all them cool paintem up jobs of his hereabouts

CB Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 Workin' on gettin' this here rod buildemed up & cleanin' out this here garaage..... Was thinkin' of usin' a tractor grille up front of there, but bein' a Godly man, caint be goin' out and rippin' no grille's off'n the neighbors' tractors .......so just got back to a cleanin' up and founded the back fenders off'n the 53 leanin' up agin the welder-- the WELDER!? CLYDE MARUMBA!!! Grabbed them puppies and welded 'em togethers..... ...and started tryin' to see which end oughta be up Finally got some senses back & did a li'l whackin' and we's gittin' there....... Drawed some lines fer cuttin' out some air holes wit the torch. Now, just gotta see if'n we gots any big ol' headlight buckets for to be weldin' on either side.......
Foxer Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 oh my .. ..maybe some super-jumbo milk shake cups-a-light..
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Well CB, that's a unique way of makin a tractor grill. That's usin them old brain cells.
CB Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Thanks Gramps-- yep, gotta admit, they is old brain cells (not as old as yourn, but... ) guess dat's why they calls 'em 'gray matter' I been seriouosly trying my darnsdest to not do any scratchbuildin' on this here thing, but finally just had to do a litttle seein' as how I couldn't not find me no tailgate fer the back o' the bed. Now I gots to fab up some kind of somethin' to keep it closed........ Also considering puttin' the louvered hood side panels from the 32 Switchers kit on the gate...
CB Posted November 30, 2009 Author Posted November 30, 2009 Started 'torching' them air slots outa the grille housing..... ....used a triangular file to start laying out centerlines.... ..... and followered up with a flat file that's just the right size Thar she be! Not too shabby if'n I says so myownself Was gonna use the stock rad outa the 53 pu, but it's just way too bigly , so..... ....tooked the rad outa a 39 Ford what's rustin' away out back, and popped the buckets off'n me wrecked 37 Chebby. Aint sure yet where exackly they gonna wind up Lookin' more & more like a farmboy buildem up.... ....oh well, long as it runs
Guest JamesDE Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Man, that is sweet!!! You always do strange things, but they turn out lookin really good!!
Jantrix Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Oh man the clamshelled fender idea is perfect. I'm gonna steal that one for sure in the future. Nice work.
CB Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 Took awhile but got that ol' radiator positioned so's I could weld a support for it to the frame... ...... don't think I damaged the core at all, but if'n I did, I'll just dump some BarsLeaks in it. Got them buckets tidied up and welded to a hunka pipe.... Welded a hunka angle to the grille shell for to be mountin' it kinda secure like Did a li'l more welding and hoisted dat ol' grille & lights up fer a look see....... Oh Yeah! Can't wait to go cruisin'!!!
CB Posted December 5, 2009 Author Posted December 5, 2009 Got the ol' tubby twuck back on the bench fer a spell..... ...got them louvred engine side panels welded to the t'gate-- not very functional, but Then turned my tensions to gettin' the body down on/over the frame and started hackin' on the tub fer in the tub........ No mo' flo' Ripped the bencher outa my wrecked 37 Chebbby coupe, did a little modifryin' and got it in there. Gotta fab up some kinda floor now. So farly I be thinkin' satin blue fer colors... ...and might haftsa fab us up some kinda sheet metal hood... just a topper, with a stack stickin' up thru?
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Ok CB, if you're gonna leave those rear wheels where they are, you need to fill in the old wheel well openings. It looks kinda funky the way it is. Then you could recut the rear door lines straight down. Just a thought. But hey, what do I know, I painted a deuce coupe pink.
george 53 Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 Yeah,Capt'n DO sumpthin bout them lines back there, they doos mess wif tha flow ob thangs! Hey, ya ebber thank ob paintin it PINK?????....jus sayin.........

Guest Gramps-xrds Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 OK Cap. It's your build. You do it however you wants. I just wanted to pick on ya for a while.
