Nick Winter Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Ok well here's some info The Ford Torino Talladega was a car produced by the Ford Motor Company during 1969 only. Named after the Talladega Superspeedway racetrack in Alabama, it was a special racing version of the Ford Torino produced specifically to make Ford competitive in NASCAR racing, and was sold to the public only because homologation rules required a certain number of sales to the public. 754 cars were built, including prototypes; production examples were constructed during January and February 1969 at Ford's Atlanta, Georgia plant. The car was based on the Fairlane 500 "Sportsroof" (Ford's trade name for a fastback) 2-door hardtop. To make the car more aerodynamic at speed, a sleeker front section was added. Regular production Fairlanes and Torinos had a then-fashionable inset grille and headlights, which fared poorly in the wind tunnel. The Torino Talladega replaced this nose with one extended by six inches, with a flush-mounted grille on a more rounded front end. The close-fitting bumper was actually a rear bumper cut and reshaped to fit the front end. The rocker panels were reshaped and rolled to allow Ford to run the racing cars closer to the ground within NASCAR rules. The only option on the production vehicles was the color; choices were Wimbledon White (286 built), Royal Maroon (258 built) or Presidential Blue (199 built). Mine will be Wimbledon White with black hood.
Jared Roach Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Hey, can I switch my entry from the super bee? I am taking a while on it and I want to do it right. Can I enter a Amt 68 camaro? Side pipes, blown, something like a drive to work mon-fri and race on the weekends. Let me know if I can switch.
Nick Winter Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Forgot one thing, The engine was rated at 335 horsepower (250 kW) at 5200 rpm, but true output approached 410 horsepower

Cobrawannabe Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 The ducktail is all shaped and sanded, now I just have to spray it all (except the hood ofcourse!) in olive drab. I've decided to do a military theme with the paint.

Smart-Resins Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Here is the 69 convertible camaro I have slowly been working on on the side. I can find the previous post right now, so here is a new one! I have finally decided to try a flame job with my airbrush! Wish me luck!!! I will need it! LOL. I have done the easy part. I started with snow white, then yellow, then ultra orange, then kosmos red. Next will be designing the flames and masking it off. Still debating the main body color? Cant decide metallic blue, pavo purple or a dorado dreams? But, I am this far! Also have to mask off the black chassis and paint the frame rails and tank silver to finish that off. Thanks. diymirage Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 with a classic flamejob like that i would stay with the classic and put a black base coat on it
Smart-Resins Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Downfall is I do not have any kustom kolors black! LOL. Jody

I m really liking this build, and I may have to pick up one of the chassis you mentioned later on in the build. This car is just so darned endearing!

Jason Vandergriff Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 well it started as a coupe. lol. I am thinking the wagon theme for the CKM show in Aug.
Smart-Resins Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 well it started as a coupe. lol. I am thinking the wagon theme for the CKM show in Aug. Wagon, fitting in? Of course. I dont know anyone who can be sane and compitent and look me straight in the face and tell me a chevelle wagon is not a muscle car! It would perform very nicely. They even used to drag race them and with some success! So they must be! LOL. Jody
Smart-Resins Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Alright, I downloaded a side view drawing of one of these, resized it to about the right size. Then I drew some flamage. I cut it out and traced it onto tape and cut it out! I am sure glad I traded one of those ole kits for the swivel knife and paint and such! That knife works very well for this! After placeing the tape on the body and such. I was ready to paint my silver onto the car. But as I was getting ready to pour the silver, a thought came to my mind. I am really wanting a white interior. Well, black goes with silver in my opinion. so I closed up the jar and poured some pavo purple instead. I am glad I did as it really makes the flames POP!! Not the greatest job, but for my first multi color paint job and my first masking job and my first flame job. I think it looks really cool! Now I cant wait to finish this girl up!! Let it dry for a couple of days and rub the body out. Place some decals on it then clear it! Mean time, I will start on the interior and try to finish the chassis. This has me interested in finishing so far at this point! Jody
Pete1980 Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Wow very nice.I feel like Ive seen this paint job somewhere before.TV magazine I dunno. So I was gonna put up some pics but uh.....yeah cant figure it out,Maybe Im missing somthing but it wont let me upload anymore pics.I have two previous pics but thats it no more.Anyway I got all the paint off the body of my heavy chevy and hammered out some body work.
