Lyle Willits Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 The first thing you need to do is cut off the package shelf. The roadster version wouldn't use it anyway and for the coupe version, you can't get to it once the roof is on. I scribed mine to match the tuck&roll on the kit pieces. I don't like the kit custon grille, so I'm using the Model Car Garage photoetched grille and resin surround. Kit skirts are too plain so I made some "art deco" style skirts from sheet plastic. That's Reps & mins chopped top, by the way. I cut the fender unit at the rear end of the running board so i could mold in the rear fenders. Tailight holes will hold DUDEK lights. '61 Impala wheel cover with a chrome bullet mounted in the center. This is where I'm heading,,,,,,,,,,,,,
george 53 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 As usual Lyle, it's lookin good even without paint! Looks like it'll look SMOOOTH when she's done! I like the grille, looks kinda Packard-ish!

Tom Kren Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Looking good lyle Hey wheres the bullets from?
Lyle Willits Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 Looking good lyle Hey wheres the bullets from? The bullets come from the chrome tree that the Revell "rat rod" caps and trim rings are on. I don't even think they are meant to be bullets. I think they are just part of the tree for molding purposes. You probably have a bunch of them, if you didn't throw them away.
ratrodder Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Lyle, nice looking 36 going together buddy. Missed you in Atlanta. Doug and Carol from Carolina Way.
ratrodder Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Are you going to bare metal the strips on the skirts or just body color? Nice touch. Giving me planning ideas. Yep, we went to Louisville after Atlanta. Our buddy Chopper was there.
Lyle Willits Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 (edited) Yeah, they will be chromed along with the rub strip on the running boards. I'd like to get to Atlanta NNL some day, but 10-11 hour drive is a little far. Edited December 7, 2009 by Lyle Willits
