Chuck Most Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 (edited) Just wrapped this one up. I built it from the new 'decontented' reissue- I lowered it by trimming the shackles, dearching the springs, and flipping the front axle. I also replaced the kit Rally GT tires with Polyglas GTs for a sort of '70's vibe. I cut a new trunklid from .030" styrene to rid the car's hiney of the vestigial spare tire well. I replaced the kit's buckets with a tuck n' rolled bench from an AMT '34 Ford 5-window. All else you see is totally out of the box. I'm saving that lovely 'Sock' motor for another build- but I think the AMT parts pack Pontiac 421 (with carb stacks from a '56 Vicky) looks pretty good in the Willys, as well! randx0 Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Great Job! gotta love those "decontented" reissues no more weighing you down with extra parts and they probably save .0000000000000004 cents per kit.too bad the kit didn't come with a small scoop to cover up the hole in the hood.
voljeepx Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 looks really good, Chuck! I have seen these cars stock, and they just don't look right! Guess some cars were meant to be Street Rods! Color looks great on it, too!

Actually, it does. I just chose not to use it!
Kenny Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Just wrapped this one up. I built it from the new 'decontented' reissue- What did they remove??? That kit never did have a lot of parts or any building options that I can remember.
Chuck Most Posted December 7, 2009 Author Posted December 7, 2009 What did they remove??? That kit never did have a lot of parts or any building options that I can remember. The wheelie bar is history, as is the blower hat (that's where the scoop I didn't use comes into play), and no slicks are included, just those tacky Goodyear Rally GTs. Not as bad as the '55 and '57 Chev kits, but fewer parts nevertheless!
Kenny Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 The wheelie bar is history, as is the blower hat Okay that makes sense. I had the kit issued 20 years ago and those parts were already gone back then. Your buildup looks great!
