Buggywas just built from race car rollcage the wrecker is the hard one it is a 53 Ford cab and needs a frame trying to do a 55 chevy frame for it
Railfreak78 Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 YES! in the words of Cranky "EyeCandy!" I've been going nuts cause I know your building a lot at one time and I am sooooo diggin the buggy! The scout I love as well cause I would love to own one with a Warn winch if we actually had to drive these things in real life. Nice work and yes I watchin that truck. I'll be back to mine guys as soon as get one certain project off my table.

jedimastergary Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Got a little work done on my wrecker tonight built a dash and glued firewall in and seats also worked on front axle design planned rear part bed and axle. Still need to build wrecker unit and get little things added like headlights and grill dirty up the paint a bit so it has that wasteland feel. Got day off from college tomorrow so might get a lot done if I do not work on other kits I have and maybe some pics of progress if it has enough to show more of it done
Tony T Posted April 17, 2010 Posted April 17, 2010 Hey where'd all the pictures go? Really need some pics, folks... There are some cool builds and ideas coming from this, and the pictures are what gives it the gusto. My opinion.
jedimastergary Posted April 18, 2010 Posted April 18, 2010 Small update gotsome work done on my Death Wrecker today the frame is painted, rear axle and springs mounted front axle mounted interior glued in. Maybe tomorrow it will be ready for some pics and possibly even be done want it finished so I can move on to another project I hae plans for or a muscel car from my growing stack of kits
David G. Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Folks have been saying that there haven't been enough pictures posted lately. Well, here's my entry into the Post Apocolyptic Community Build. It's also my first Community Build entry... ever. The Reaver is a dirt track racer that I knocked together in a few weeks. the front is from from the remains of the '58 Impala that I sacrificed for the Chevy Proton. The back comes from a badly warped '57 Chevy that I picked up on one of my swap meet sweeps. Twin internally mounted .50 cal machine guns Desert Dog off road racing tires The engine is a modified 688 cid gasoline engine adapted to run on hydrogen fuel. The access hatches in the tops of the fenders allow for loading and servicing the .50 cals. Enhanced tailfins The view from above Rear oil and smoke dischargers. Oil doesn't cause much difficulty on a dirt track surface... until you ignite it. Fans of Firefly and Serenity will identify with the name... and hopefully the tailfins, too! Thanks for taking the time to check it out. As always, please feel free to offer honest critiques evaluations and suggestions. Thanks, David G.
jedimastergary Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Looks Killer nice work would hate to meet it on the track or a road good work on it. I hope to get more done on my Death Wrecker later having trouble getting cab to sit on frame and stay and bed turns out to be short when I test fit it on going to fix a custom rear bumper to fix that also have to finish wrecker unit I built from one I saw a few years ago on a farm it had been made in the 50's to pull farm trucks out of mud. as soon as finished will post new pics unless find cord to camera sooner
Tony T Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Nice work on Reaver. Looks like an effective light armour quick attack vehicle. Might need to up the armour if the opposition gets any ideas!!
Railfreak78 Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Fantastic build David and I love the Firefly connection. I loved that show! Great mix of cars and the machine guns and hatches are incredible!
David G. Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Thanks for the positive feedback everyone. It's always a pleasure to post my projects here. Brian, I'll be at the swap meet on Saturday. I plan on bringing the Chrysler and Nova with me, if you still want to trade. David
Dr. Cranky Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THOSE FINS ARE WICKED! I LOVE IT!
supermike Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 How is every one doing the weathering on the cars? I painted mine and it looks just to clean.
Railfreak78 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 SuperMike, On my Sub-Urban I used a mix of very thinned black and not thinned rust to make a wash I brushed on it. In my pictures it photographs almost as red as the red does but it does not look like in person. Also on my zombie car I used clear turn singnal amber for the rust dripping down from the bullet holes. I know a lot of guys here use chalks and pastels as well. All I have is Model Master
David G. Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THOSE FINS ARE WICKED! I LOVE IT! Thanks, they're my favorite feature. How is every one doing the weathering on the cars? I painted mine and it looks just to clean. For mine, I painted it brown first, let it dry completely, then covered some areas with dampened salt before I painted the red. While the red paint was dry but still soft, I cleaned away the salt. Some of the salt will want to stick and you may have to rub to remove it, just be careful not to rub the brown paint off. After I had the red looking mostly like I wanted it to, I drybrushed with flat tan and flat black. I then followed with a thin wash of black. I hope that helps, you can also cruise the Tips, Tricks and Tutorials section for some great ideas in more detail.

tuffone20 Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 The more I look at this community build the more I want to give it a try and see if I can come up with something as cool and crazy as every one else has done. All of the builds look so good and bad at the same time... Marty
jedimastergary Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 On my 1953 Death Wrecker I just mixed a some artist paints to get a close rust look and painted the body with it think it was raw seinna, red and yellowish color. I got more work done on the truck the wrecker unit is almost finished made a semi style smoke stack and mounted it was almost done and had a set back the axle broke have to scratch build a new one and them add few small bits and will be done hope to have pics this weekend of it finished. I also got my 1958 Plymouth fixed redid rear frame now at least 4 tires touch ground might have to scrap 6X6 plans
jedimastergary Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Ok here are the pics of My Death Wrecker so far as can bee seen front tire needs fixed Scratch Built exhaust stack Scratch built wrecker unit and rear bumper think going to make new bumper and maybe add second hook on wrecker only has one right now 1941 Plymouth engine made to look like desiel
David G. Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 From what I can see, it looks good so far! The weathering is coming along nicely.
jedimastergary Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Thaks was not sure about it never done it before thought might be a bit to much but now that I look I see I could do a bit more on the front wheels they are to clean and the tow hook still needs some paint. At first the color was to brown but after it dried it looks like rust all the paints are artist paints mixed to make colors need to get the front axle finished and then add small things and it will be done and noticed today when looked I forgot to add a fuel tank now I have to build something that will work with my build. More pics when I get some more done and find my 1958 Plymouth that I started
jedimastergary Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Been a while since I did anything to my builds lost intrest on them last night I was watching Death Race and had to go get my 1958 plymouth found intrest in working on it as I watched Got some work done on it added 2 machine guns and painted it redid some interior parts I scratch built like the dash and removed a wall I had beside the driver made of wood thought it will not work for plan then by end of movie plans had changed so much it is going to be a new style now a wasteland racer just needs a motor and wheels might have to change tires to get wheels on. Hope to have pics soon just finished midterms in college so not as much studying and more time to rest after class is over Also might have my secret project on the bench soon not sure if I will post in the works pics or just finished pics as want to keep the secret as long as I can so it will be a shock when done
jedimastergary Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Got a bit of work done to my plymouth body is almost finished, guns are on just have to make some wheels and add exhaust and few little things then it will be rady for pics to be posted and on to my secret project have most of the parts for it just need to find engine and axles and a frame then it will go quick from thaere
jedimastergary Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 (edited) While packing to move my death wrecker and buggy got dropped and are not salvagable and my Scout had the roof and front axle trashed axle broke into several pieces. so I see it becoming a 2 wheel drive custom maybe slammed on some smaller tires after i get set up in new place. Will be a long time though as might do full custom build on it with a hemi As for the Plymouth i tried to do a cool look and totaly trashed the body i melted it while t rying to bend some parts for a wrecked look.
