The Calypso Coral is from MCW and the Twister Special decals are from Keith Marks.

I still need to black out the exhaust tips.

The decals gave me a bit of a hard time. More my doing than Keith's.

Sam The Twister option was available ONLY on the west side of the Rockie Mountains. I think it was a dealer from Colorado that made a contract with Ford to be an exclusive dealer for them. Those of us on the east coast COULDN'T order one, so they're VERY rare around our neck of the woods. That and the fact that there weren't that many built.:lol:

Nice job on both of them. The paint came out real nice. I've never seen one with gloss black on the hood though.;)

Um, close but no cigar. These cars were Sold EAST of the Rocky Mountains.

The Kansas Ford dealers wanted something to draw in foot traffic, more specifically,

The Kansas City Area Ford Dealers. and approached Ford with the idea of an

option along the lines of the California Specials and the High Country Specials of the previous couple of years.

Now, From records I have seen, 100 -Mach 1 1970 Mustangs, and 100- Ford Cobra Torinos were built.

That being said, of the 100- Mach 1's, only about fifty were built with the 428 CJ motors, due to them being scarce,

the rest had 351 Cleveland 4 barrel motors. ALL the Mach 1's were painted Grabber Orange.

The Torino's were painted Vermillion, and were 429 Cars.

The question's now arise on if these Torino's were cobra jet, or Super cobra jet 429's.

I have seen only Super Cobra Jet Cars.

We had a '70 Twister Mach 1 in my hometown in Colorado,

but it was owned by a college kid who moved to town, and it was a 351C Mach 1.

But all the graphics and stuff were intact, as this was the early seventies.

not many people were cloning them at that time, if any.

Beautiful Model by the way,

I'm building one right now, with Fred Cady decals,

to display next to my twister Mach 1 replica.

A bad choice of semi-gloss black on my account. From now on, it's only decanted Tamiya sprays semi-gloss black.

Thanks!

Thanks for the correction Chuck. They're Fords, so they don't really hold any interest for me. But I do know they were rare, caz I'VE never seen one except in a magazine! They ARE very nice lookin cars though(if you can call Fords after 70 nice looking! ;) )

looking at my post, I see it as a little heavy handed,

and for that, I'm sorry.

These cars are terrific! And 'Mr. Can Am Garage' did a nice job on both models.

Anyway, to me, these were some of the least respected, best performance mid size

Fords, ever.

I guess having a cobra jet Torino in the garage makes me a little bit biased.

Actually, it was pretty informative,to be honest with you. I've only seen then in Hemmings Muscle Car Review. Personally, (and this IS just moo) 70 was the last year for pretty Fords. Maybe NOT fast ones, but to ME, attractive Fords. STILL like G.M's an Mopes better.:P

Nice job on both Torino's.

Wished my Mom had kept the 69 GT she bought after she and my Dad divorced. Only problem with it was , if you EVER touched the gas pedal on restart after it was warmed up the darned thing would flood and you would have to wait 15 minutes to try again!
