Nick Winter Posted December 27, 2009 Author Posted December 27, 2009 it doesn't work on your end? Well it's being really picky on my end, before I could usually have around 3 link, it wouldn't even let me have one, and when you bold, color, or enlarge it, it dosen't do diddly.
Harry P. You might have to upgrade to a more current browser. Try Firefox.
mountaindewd Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Harry, I downloaded Firefox earlier and am really liking it. However, I am having trouble with the sig part also. I select the font and insert my name between the center brackets and below is the result. Any suggestions? Les I also tried removing the quotes and no change. In the "Help" section, this is how it shows it to be yet is not working. Edited December 27, 2009 by mountaindewd
Gregg Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 HTML is off in sigs Recommendation of programers
Harry P. Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Harry, I downloaded Firefox earlier and am really liking it. However, I am having trouble with the sig part also. I select the font and insert my name between the center brackets and below is the result. Any suggestions? Les Firefox will display this site correctly, but it has no control over the site itself. When you set your preferences, that's all done within this site's software. Firefox, or any other browser, will then display what you set as your preferences, but Firefox doesn't control the preferences you set here... it can only display what you've chosen. Try redoing your sig again. You should be able to type in your sig line, then highlight it, and then add color, font, sizes, etc. by selecting your choices. Click on "Preview post" to see what your post will look like. If it's not right, try again.
mountaindewd Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I have done that a couple times and just tried it again, no change. I even tried to replace the brackets(BBCode?) with <> arrows(HTML?) to see what would happen, no change. Type sig line then select font, color, etc., no change. Select font then insert sig line, nope.

mountaindewd Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Well, imagine that! The one thing I didn't try was no choice. Is that the way it is suppose to work or another bug to be worked out? Thank You! I have this problem, every time I blink, my head flails about violently. Can you do anything for this from behind the scenes?

Apparently the programmers told Gregg to shut off HTML choices in the sig lines... don't know why. As far as your head problem... I'll be happy to help. Just mail me a check for $5000 and as soon as it clears I'll start your sessions...
MrObsessive Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 HTML is off in sigs Recommendation of programers Okay, that answers my question I had on another thread about why I can't change my sig like before. That really blows! Any reason why they chose that option? I knew I wasn't going crazy trying to figure out why I couldn't change things as I was running every configuration six ways to Sunday!
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 When I tried to change my sig, all it did was screw up what was there. and now I have the little things on each end of my name that I can't get off no matter what I try. There's no font size or color available. And yes Harry, I've been using Firefox since it came out, so it's not that causing it.

Gramps, To clear out the “brackets†on your sig, open the edit for the sig, and use a highlight & delete. Or put the cursor to the right of each bracket, and keep hitting the back space key.
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 . Gramps, To clear out the "brackets" on your sig, open the edit for the sig, and use a highlight & delete. Or put the cursor to the right of each bracket, and keep hitting the back space key. Thanks Jon. That did the trick. I guess we still don't have the use of color or text yet. Oh well maybe in the near future.

I guess spammers and hackers have found a way to use sig lines for their nefarious purposes.
E St. Kruiser50 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Yeah, there still seems to be a few small "SNAFOO'S" on my end, but MAN MY COMPUTOR IS RUNNING SO MUCH FASTER since I upgraded to IE8 and added FIREFOX . I figured out the pics and text thing, so I guess everything else should fall into place, like when I first signed up here, and had to learn it all. Anyhow, it's like havin' a new computor after I did all the changes. Guess I should thank Gregg for the "UNSUSPECTING CHRISTMAS PRESENT" . THANKS GREGG

Aaron hit the nail on the head. With any new upgrade, there is the open door for hackers to get in before all the security bugs are fixed.
Jon Cole Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 When does open hunting season start for spammers? Someday, no more spammers! Yeah! Maybe when pigs fly!
