chris coller Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 It amazes me how much attention people get for puffing there chests out , having a hissy fit, and taking their toys and going home. This guy should start a political career. He would have everyone going what is he gonna do next. We would probably be in big trouble though if he had any position in office. But he would probably fit in well with the other "knobs". I don't get I I cam on here and told everyone how I felt about anything, life, politics, the economy, my views on certain people, women, what have you. I would probably be thrown off the board. After all this a model site, right? We all should contribute, try to be open minded and have fun. I don't receive a lot of attentention on what I build. Do you see me on here calling people out and whining and crying when I get ignored? All I am trying to say is this a hobby and as far as getting paid to build, it's nice but not all of us can make a living doing it.

I must have missed that part. I remember him popping off at the mouth and challenging a bunch of people to build offs and such a while back, but I wasn't aware that he was at it again...... He's always been a chest thumper however....thats nothing new. I think all the E-challenges and keyboard pounding is hilarious....I can tell you one thing though.......If somebody like that was running their mouth as much as he does in some of the bars and towns I used to hang out in, they would be sewing him back together down in the local ICU unit. Computer screens don't make very good safe havens once your out on the streets.
vizio93 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 No problemo....I just thought that with 5000 posts it was a little strange that I never saw any work from him.....I wasn't trying to throw salt in his eyes, but was just curious as to why I never saw any plastic from him. Ah I see what you mean
PatRedmond Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Just to defend George a bit.... He's in my Club and there's something in front of him model car related EVERY meeting. VERY enthusiastic about cars in general, and a great guy to chat with about cars and models in person and that transfers to these message boards.

Alot of times, it's hard to get the full picture just from the internet. It's also hard sometimes, to ask a legit question over the computer without sounding like a wise guy, which is why I was a bit reluctant to ask if George actually built stuff, but I did have my flame suit zipped in case things deteriorated.....Regards, Jeff
MikeMc Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll15/ghernandez53/Picture072-1.jpg I think these are Georges.....
PatRedmond Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 No problem here. He's a VERY social guy. His pic posting woes are well known.
Jeff Sauber Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll15/ghernandez53/Picture072-1.jpg I think these are Georges..... Cool muscle cars, but I think those are diecasts...
george 53 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Well Thank you Mike-O, but those are Danbury Mint Die Casts, ALL of them were gifts from my Wife and Daughter, I wish I could build that nice!!!
Jeff Sauber Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) So... has evilone left the building yet? If he has, it's likely only temporary. He'll be back shaking his fists, and pounding the keyboard in the midst of another tantrum. Edited January 9, 2010 by J. Sauber

MyBradKeselowski Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) ALL MY EVILONE... I think I will change to the Soap Network, better story line :P Edited January 9, 2010 by kaseykahne09
Zoom Zoom Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 So... has evilone left the building yet? I thought people were already accusing him taking note of posting a bunch of dramatic nonsense instead of building. Bah bump ching.
Modelmartin Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I'm not some big, hot shot, rich and famous model car builder or something like that. Are there any?
Jeff Sauber Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Are there any? Well, I'm sure theres a few rich guys here and there, that play around with plastic models somewhere on planet earth...or at the very least, pay somebody else alot of bankroll to build them up a few. Shoot, I'm lucky to sell one of my full detail creations for a few measly bucks over on "the bay".....It's amazing some of the very average stuff, thats selling for large amounts over there, especially the curb side stuff. I've seen a few curbsides going for close to $700-$800 smackeroos!! I mean they were decent and all, but they weren't anything super spectacular.
chris coller Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Jeff, I tend to think it is because of the name that is attatched to the builds. Is Paul Hettic or something like that. I have never heard of this guy and I have been reading both magazines for 10 yrs. The other one longer for obvious reasons. Beats me
Jeff Sauber Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Jeff, I tend to think it is because of the name that is attatched to the builds. Is Paul Hettic or something like that. I have never heard of this guy and I have been reading both magazines for 10 yrs. The other one longer for obvious reasons. Beats me Hettick builds good stuff and I think he does masters for the modelhause or something like that....I've seen some of Hetticks builtups going for close to a $1000 a model sometimes!! But yeah, I 've never really heard of this guy either out on the contest circuit, and I've been doing this stuff for nearly 20 years.....although I think he's west coast based so maybe he's a modeling god out there or something. He has nice stuff, but it's not anything mind blowing or even moderately detailed....They are great shelf models, but somehow he's managed to squeeze some pretty good coin for what he's doing...He must have like a cult following....LOL. Some of his customers bid that stuff up real quick....A while back, He had a car out for less than 6 hours and it went from like 20.00 bucks all the way up to 450.00 !!.....I don't even think it had an engine or full chassis.....Hmmmmm, interesting.
Modelmartin Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 I think the Paul Hettick models appeal more to the promo collecters. Those guys are willing to pony up some buckaroos for their toys! Paul does really clean and appealing builds of a lot of resin kits. He even built and sold one of my Firebird III kits. I suspect he does it to support his hobby expenses. I have known some builders over the years who have gotten good money for buillding but there is little consistency in it. It can be boom one month and bust for the next 3. I don't do custom building any more. I haven't for at least 15 years now. The model car biz is a good one for making a small fortune.........from a large one! It's the passion for it that keeps most of us in it. Except for Don Thuene. He ships thousands of packages out all the time!!! It's a cash cow for him.

Those are good points you mention....Alot of those promo-crazy-guys, are like a school of sharks in a feeding frenzy at auction time... For some of them, throwing money around has become a hobby all in itself....
Modelmartin Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 For some of them, throwing money around has become a hobby all in itself.... Actually, it becomes a point of pride to say that I paid $X000.00 bucks for that piece. It's an interesting psychological phenomonem. I would be proud of something I paid a gazillion bucks for....if it was worth it!
