cruz Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Funny thing is that, no matter how much is said about the '32 Ford, there will be hundreds of them at the NNL in April, it is a very played out subject but it's still a big favorite among a lot of the guys. Still, they should have came up with a different theme.....
chris coller Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Absolutely! I think it has to do with a certain "era" in the modeling community. You know us youngsters are distracted by stickers, do dads and bright colors It seems everywhere I turn these cars are there. Oh well. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised by something new!
MikeMc Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 thought of this one after reading http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=26706&pid=252664&st=0&#entry252664
seeker589 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 This Subject has been beat to death a hundred or more times. We are all model builders, if you don't like something about it, change it, that's what we do. Yea! What his guy said! Really - the best thing about being a model builder is that we can build and change anything we would want on a build and it won't cost an arm and a leg. Nothing is sacred in plastic! What are the other build themes at the NNL East this year? Maybe those who don't like the '32 idea could try one of those.
peter31a Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 THE OTHER THEMES ARE: Repeat: One of the things to remember is that the main themes for NNL East are: 1985: Back to the Future any vehicle from the 80's AND Pickup Lines: What's the Utes, Any form of pickup. The 32 5 window and Sedan are just the internet theme. Just sayin...

bobss396 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 I thought the NNL East had a '32 Ford class a few years back. I'm still not sure what an "internet theme" is. But they're still popular to build, I have a Revell 5-window kit in the works myself. It's actually a pretty good kit with the Hemi engine, '40 Ford wheels, dash, steering wheel, etc. Norm has a bunch of resin goodies for it as well and more to come. If I finish mine in time for the show, I'll bring it. Bob

It's a way to say to everyone else, "See? If you spent a little time on a hobby message board, you would have known about this!"
E St. Kruiser50 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 What about just building a "Traditional" classy fendered street-rod for variety? The one shown is pretty highly modified, but has the "Traditional Look" to it. The rat rods of various styles are pretty cool, and are pretty unlimited in what you can do with one, but the same can be said for the more complete fendered, sorta "Resto-rodded" 32's. Here's more of the style that I like to build, complete with a leather interior.
