58 Impala Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I know enamel never dries on vinyl tires. I've used acrylic and that works. Does anyone know if a flat white lacquer would work, like for instance Plasticoat white primer?
philboyd Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 White shoe polish works very well. I brushed it on the tires for a Big Duece and they looked really good. Took about three coats but it was easy enough.
Jon Cole Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Sometimes I use whitewall stickers from Joe Wheat. These are die cut from 3M labels. Thing is, I'm not sure if Joe still offers these. If you had a cutting mat, and a circle cutter, you could make your own. Joe also has narrow whitewalls in two sizes (IIRC) and redwalls as well.
charlie8575 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Is Joe Wheat online anyplace? Those whitewall stickers look pretty good. Barring that, ordering information? Charlie Larkin
Blake Rogers Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 ok well i am reading my new copy of fine scale modeler and guess what i found the answer to that pain in the butt way of doing white walls on tires. the guy say's to go to a auto parts store and pick up vinyl upholstery die (white) lol he say's that it sticks to vinyl tires like glue hope that helps
