charlie8575 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 As some of you may have noticed on my GTO build, I had a small problem with the redline decals. I stacked the tires to keep them in place in the box while moving, and a few days later, I brought them upstairs from the basement, started to take stuff out, and the decals all stuck to the back of the tires on top of each other. The one on top was unharmed. Can I put decal set on vinyl or should I just try putting something like Micro-Flat over them to help seal them, and hopefully prevent this from happening again? Also, to remove the old decals, I'm guessing water would be adequate? Charlie Larkin

Smart-Resins Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 For removing, a mild window cleaner or purple power should be fine. I have soaked old dingy tires in the PP overnight before without problems. Or a good soaking in water may help. As for sealing them, I have used automotive paints for panting white walls, so perhaps a clear misted on to give a dull look would wo4rk? I have not used those decals yet, so I dont really know! Of course, I have another 2 sets of those, so I will have too! LOL. I have my Tin Indian to finish and another GTO project and use the body from the parts kit to do a hard body from. Thanks. Jody
Scale-Master Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 If you brush a thin coat of Future on the area you are going to apply the decals to, and let it fully dry, the decal will adhere to the tire better. Once the decal is completely dry, knock the sheen down with a light application of Dullcote. And avoid stacking them or any sidewall decalled tires...
