It's been awhile since I've posted anything so here is a 53 Ford that I'm customizing. I'm using 56 Packard tail lights out back and the custome headlights from the 57 Chevy by AMT. That's about all that I'm doing to the body. I also used the rear rolled pan from the 57 as the bumper. I had to narrow it a tad bit and then fill in the bottom part to creat the bumper. Here are some pics

Thanks James. I really like the Packard lights on most customs and of course the 56-58 Packards. By the way, where in Ohio do you live. I'm in Lewis Center. Dan

Those Packard lights look good and looks like some nice bodywork molding then in!

For George, they are mirror images of Replicas & Miniatures tail lights.. I'd bet a 1:1 Packard on it!

Mike, R&R's are molded as ONE WHOLE unit! These look like individual peices to be assembled, with seperate tailite lenses and back up lite lense,AND bezels! These are just TOOOO nice not to get!!!!biggrin.gifwink.gif

Thanks guys, and George you found the other thread on Scale Asylum didn't ya :lol: . The lights are three pieces from Replicas & Miniatures Company of Maryland, and they are great replicas that's fer sure. Gonna get more of 'em when I can. Dan

P.S. Sorry James I missed your post. If ya ever get up Columbus way on Friday night, stop in at the Hobbyland Store in Graceland mall on High street and say hay. A bunch of the guys in our club meet there every Friday night from 6 PM until 9 PM.

It's been a very long time since I've posted anything on this build. Well, I have done a little work on it and I'm going to get-er-done now. Here are some pics of where i'm at now.

I had to do a little more work on the top of the rear fenders to get them right.

Looking like it could have been an original 'Batmobile' Dan! Did you have this at the last meeting? If you did, I must have been busy with Mike and Ron and missed this. Looking good........color picked yet?

Posted

Thanks Bradley and yes I had it with me but it was a darker gray. I've done a little more work on it and I need to spray some more gray on it. I have chosen a color for it. It's going to be a very light green, something like the Hirohato Merc. I think I spelled the name right. Anyway, it's going to be a pale light green. I hope anyway. :D:blink: Dan

Sounds like a winning plan to me. I thought it was darker; you had a mist coat on it (chase coat for sanding)?

Hirohita Merc..........I remember reading about the restoration of the car if my memory serves me correct.

I've got the taillight housings painted with Alclad and I have to redo the rear bumper cause it came out to dard and rough lookin. I sanded the bumper down and now I have to repaint it. Thanks for the correct spelling for the Hirohita Merc Bradley. Dan

At least you're making some headway on your builds Dan; my Mustang project has stalled and I haven't touched the club Buick due to just not having the time I want/need. Yes, I could be building instead of typing, but I come here to relax between work and life!

Looking good Dan! I like the color. If I remember correctly, the Hirohita Merc had a much darker Green laid in under the 56 Buick style Chrome side trim. Do you plan something like that for this?

Thanks guys, and no I'm going with just the one color Bradley. If I would have thought more about it before I might have planed something like that, but I think this is all that it's gonna be. For now, that is. B) Ya just never know. Dan

Well, I'm kinda waitin fer the paint to dry a little before I polish it. I am using a 53 Chevy grill. I had to strip the chrome off and then I used Alclad. Here are three more pics of where I'm at now.

I think that I'm gonna use the skirts. I'm also thinking about painting the interior black and green. At first I was thinking white and green, but I'm leaning towards the black and green. What do you guys think?

Thanks fer lookin. Dan

Posted

That's looking great; the Packard tail lights make it look like a bit like a '54 or '55 Lincoln. Definitely use the skirts, and I vote for black and green on the interior.

Thanks Jim. I painted the interior black and green last night. I also got the parts for the chassis painted and polished the body and hood. I rubbed thru on the lower front corner of the right door and front fneder which I'll have to fix. There is also a spec of dirt that didn't rub out on the hood, so I'll have to repaint that. I hope to get more done today andhave some pics up tonight. Dan
