Simon Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 Hi folks, here is a build of Italeri's much-criticised 48-foot US reefer. Not my first choice of trailer, but US trailer kits are hard to get here at the moment. Built box stock apart from some self-adhesive gemstones for the tail lights. I need to add a diesel tank under the chassis at some point for the fridge unit. The K100 is 1/25, which would make this a 50-foot trailer. Not perfect, but I'm pleased with it.
Murphy's Law Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 That looks really good. What kinds of issues did you have?
Simon Posted January 24, 2010 Author Posted January 24, 2010 Thanks lads. Chris, the main issue is the joint halfway along the body. It doesn't matter about the floor because you can't see it, and the joint in the roof is easy to smooth out because there is no detail up there, it's totally smooth. However, the body sides have ribs and rivet detail, which would end up being sanded away if you are not careful, and makes it hard to hide the join. Other than that you couldn't get a much more straight forward kit.
Tony Bryan Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 The first photo through me, thought it was real, had to take a second look looks great to me
studioman3 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 The first pic looks like the real deal, it wasn't till I scrolled down to the second one that I realized you were showing us the kit, not a pic of the real thing. I'd say it came out great! nice weathering and detailing. Tim
Wmija Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Nice combination, and I agree with the comments about the first picture, at first glance I thought you were showing us the real 'inspiration' before getting into the model pics. Best Regards, Wayne
charlie8575 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 The first photo through me, thought it was real, had to take a second look looks great to me I had that same reaction, too. Very nice job. Charlie Larkin
