AMT 1966 Mercury Cyclone GT...restomod of a 44 yr old kit

Cliff,

The wheels are from the Revell Snap 1957 Chevy, modified to fit Pegasus 23" stepped sleeves in the rear and some one off, custom made 19" sleeves on the front. The wheel centers were masked and painted with Testors Gunmetal metalizer.

The wheels in the AMT Boyd Coddington '57 are similar but much different.

I thought I recognized them, excellent work making them work for this car. They're so narrow straight from the kit to be almost useless (I actually bought this kit just for the wheels).

Did you turn these wheels down on a lathe or something?

Did them by hand with an emory board. The fronts are turned down even more to fit inside some custom one off aluminum sleeves. Their OD matches Pegasus 19" wheels but are narrower. I removed one or two ribs of tread on the Pegasus tires to make them fit just right.
