Railfreak78 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 (edited) Sorry about the bad pics before!! I now can take better pictures so here you go. I did a lot of fine detail on this car that I have never done before. All hand made are as follows: plug wires, brake lines, carb linkage, throttle return spring, purge canister, battery cables, accessory wire, fuel line, heater hoses, rear springs and more.I hand painted the super bee logo on both the hood and the back panel, no decals are on this car. I hope you like. Thanks for looking and as always comments welcome Edited February 21, 2010 by Railfreak78
Guest Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 Nice build. You just need to sharpen your photography skills a bit, use the macro focus on your camera.
Railfreak78 Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 Now thats better pics and I also forgot to mention I did the transmission linkage too. You can actually see it now that I got a better camera
RodneyBad Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I can see it I can see it Looks really great. The paint and Engine Compartment looks Super. Nice details. Excellent work..
Harry P. Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I can't believe you painted that tiny Superbee logo!
Guest Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Much better! With apologies to Blood Sweat and Tears, I can see clearly now, the fuzz is gone! One question, what are the bumps on the hood scoops?
Railfreak78 Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 I'll be honest I didn't realise they were not suppose to be there until it was to late. That color was a pain so I'm not going to strip it down It's ok though hopefully some will miss that
Modlbldr Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Railfrk- Nice job on the kit. What color is the paint? I like the stripe delete option on this. To be honest, I missed the little bumps. The license plate is a nice touch too, coming from an ex-loco engineer here. Later-
Railfreak78 Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 Thanks Tom, the color is a cheap " ColorPlace" Fire red. Its came out way darker and an odd shade than I thought it was going to be. Its rattle can. I did about 3 coats kinda flood painting it to avoid orange peel and it came out nice. I like the no stripe too. May I ask what RR you worked for? What kind of loco? or many lol? Thanks for looking
tuffone20 Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Brian, You did a great job on the Super Bee, I really like all the detail stuff you did under the hood and painting those little Bee's, that I couldn't even see when you showed them to me at your house the other day!! Oh and that's a nice touch on the Lic. Plate!!
Railfreak78 Posted February 7, 2010 Author Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks Marty. The plate was from ACME. http://www.acme.com/ Its under license maker The trick is getting it to scale on your comp for print. I think I cut mine down to 20% to fit right. Hope it helps its cool and you can pick any state and make almost anything.
jbwelda Posted February 8, 2010 Posted February 8, 2010 excellent job! and i am with bill geary: you PAINTED that little superbee? nice work! like the engine compartment too, very detailed yet clean and well laid out.
Railfreak78 Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Here is a make shift stand I made for showing the underside of the car for details. Do you think this is over the top and to much for the shows If nobody else is doing things like this? Thanks for your opinions
diymirage Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 nice work i think my favorite touch is the hood hinges by leaving them on the body while the hood is of the whole thing looks so much more real to me, when i had to change engines in a car, this is the way i do it so it looks very realistic as for your question on the stand, let me start by confessing i have never been to a show but i have read on this forum quite a bit now and it seems the main gripe people have about judges at shows is that they handle to model to view all the details and not everyone apreciates that in my opinion, your stand eliminates the need for the model to be lifted up to examine the underbody...which is a good thing my only suggestion would be to place the mirror flat so it looks a bit more like it belongs there
oldscool Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) That is a beautiful build of one of my favorite cars but you have made one common mistake that is not really your fault. The instructions have an error that goes all the way back to the original 68 Road Runner issue. This is the umpteenth build I have seen with the road Runner "beep beep" horn where the wiper motor belongs. The wiper motor is on the chrome sprue and is not even mentioned in the instructions. That round thing goes on the passenger side of the radiator bulkhead on a Road Runner. As many times as these parts have been rereleased, you would think they would have revised the instructions by now. oldscool Edited February 21, 2010 by oldscool
Railfreak78 Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 Actually my horn is on the core support next to the radiator on the passenger side. My wiper motor is on the back firewall almost dead center. I've added another piece next to it to resemble the big purge valve canister that is not in the kits and alot of mopars have it. I built this car with this picture printed out and taped to my workbench Its a motor in a 70 Bee. I may be mis understanding where I misplaced something though, would not be the first time I am really glad you like the car though I worked hard on this one.
oldscool Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Sorry, I now understand what you are trying to represent. It isn't a purge cannister but just part of the wiper drive on the real car. Nevertheless, I have seen several builds with the horn in place of the wiper motor. oldscool
Railfreak78 Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Good lord whats that part do then? It is big enough for a purge lol.
