Farmboy Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 I found this a very frustrating old kit to work with. The tub was the most enoyable part of the build. As it is, only the engine fuel lines need to be added and some touchup to the chrome where the RED plastic shows through, I just need to put it away for a while.. this is the kit... I thought it would look better tubbed. This is the `before` ...and after and after.. comments welcome.
Sixties Sam Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Looks mean! I wouldn't want to race against that 'Vette at a red light! I like the look with the rear wheels inboard. Great build! Sam
Smart-Resins Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Looks more natural to me this way! Jody
Jim0205 Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Great take on this kit which is truly a dog, the tub looks and works much better then the kits intended purpose.
hawkeye649 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Great take on this kit which is truly a dog, the tub looks and works much better then the kits intended purpose. The fit between the front clip definitely isn't the best, from the pic. I think it looks better w/o hood! Nice job, did you know about the fit/mold problems before starting the kit?
Farmboy Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Did I know? Certainly, and I corrected quite a few things with it I assure you. But we all have visions of what a great job we're going to do to a hopeless kit when we open it. As for the clip I found out right off it wouldn`t flip around the firewall the way it was. As it sits, it pulls on/off and isn't connected. I tried an experiment on improving how it fit around the firewall -- which also didn't mate well into the body but failed. And that's just dealing with the clip. It was a tough build, and I feel that what I ended up with didn't match the time and work I put in to get it.
hawkeye649 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 You got pretty close to what I was talking about. It looks real good - it's just a shame so much effort went into fixing rather than improving if you know what I mean.
Farmboy Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 ...that which doesn't kill me makes me a better modeler. lol.
