Mooneyzs Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 Just got me one of these 5 windows. While I'm not going as low as you have I'll be watching this to see how she turns out and possibly hijack any ideas hehehe The chop looks pretty good so far One of these days I'll get brave enough to try it It"s a great kit and you will like building it. Feel free to hijack any ideas of this build for yours. It's how we learn from seeing other peoples work. I just about have all of the body work completed I need add a little more body filler tonight and think she should be ready for some primer. I will post pics of it with no primer and with primer.

But when I make it up there you know I will swing by to visit you and your dad for sure. I will bring some of these builds up with me as well so you can see it.
Mooneyzs Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) ok Little more progress with this kit. Was able to shoot some Primer today just to see where I was with the body and as expected a few things that I missed were easier seen with the primer but not biggie they should be some easy fixes... Here are some more pics of the progress..... Edited July 9, 2017 by Mooneyzs

Smart-Resins Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Man, I want one of those, Since I have avatars etc turned off, what is that? Besides cooler then heck! LOL. Jody
speedy5963 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 This is looking really good buddy! Keep the pics coming
Railfreak78 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Jody your avatar pic is the Chevelle on your posts. This truck is a (I think its based on a Tom Daniels designed ice cream truck) Hot Wheel from a new series. The set has companies such as Wynn's Hayes transmissions, Dick Cepeck tires and so on. Sorry to get off subject Chris I can't wait to see your progress
Smart-Resins Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Yes, I know that. However, my settings on the forum, is to not show the avatars etc as I dont like to see lines over and ovver and over again sometimes like when someone postes say 8 times in a row! LOL. I asume you must have either a moon eyes avatar or hot wheels avatar? Thank you for letting me know that this is a hot wheels truck! I knoew thay had some of Toms design, but did not know of this one or any new ones! Thank you! Now I return you back to the regular scheduled program Jody
MikeMc Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 ok Little more progress with this kit. Was able to shoot some Primer today just to see where I was with the body and as expected a few things that I missed were easier seen with the primer but not biggie they should be some easy fixes... Here are some more pics of the progress..... OOOOHHHHHHHHH I Likey!!!!!! Chris..don't know if you have chopped one of these before...if not pay close attention to your front window frame and the inner A pillars. you have a stiffener in there that will cause grief....unless ya know!!
samurai7 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 I would like to know how you guys cut the windscreen to fit the newly chopped roof.
Mooneyzs Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 OOOOHHHHHHHHH I Likey!!!!!! Chris..don't know if you have chopped one of these before...if not pay close attention to your front window frame and the inner A pillars. you have a stiffener in there that will cause grief....unless ya know!! thanks Mike.... Nopt this is the first time chopping this kit.....I haven't quite got to the window frame yet but was planning on cutting the same ammount out of it as I did for the roof to make it fit and then I will be shaving the glass down to fit properly. I don't think it should be too much of a pain but I guess I will see huh Samurai.... When I get to that point of working the window I will take pictures and post them so you can see how I did it. But basically I will cut a section out of the window frame then glue it back together and then from there I will work on shortening the actual window by marking and then will trim it down by scribing the bottom side of the window close to where I want it then to get the final fit, I will sand it down the rest of the way with a fine sandpaper or sanding stick. Hopefully this makes sense.
Joe Nunes Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Got over here and checked out your build thread...GREAT work! Everyone's making this a good read and the many pics are a surefire help. I'll be following along on this one! Love those rats... Joe
MikeMc Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 thanks Mike.... I don't think it should be too much of a pain but I guess I will see huh I was talking about the inside of the A pillars it looks thick and the frame will be a ##### ! to get in. use a thin rule or mark it on a piece of card and check your width. Another way to do a new windshield is with .010 clear plastic cut to fit the cut down frame. Thats what will be coming next on my 32 sedan wip Samurai.... When I get to that point of working the window I will take pictures and post them so you can see how I did it. Mooneyzs Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Joe... thanks Buddy... appreciate the compliments. I will be adding more pics as I get farther along in the build. Mike....you know I may of misunderstood ya...looking at what you are talking about now it may be a bit of a bear...lol I just looked at the pics again and I do have a step from the top to the main body on the A pillars. I did try to test fit as best as I could with the fill size winshield frame but I know I really need to cut it down to see how it really fits. I think I will try and work on this tomorrow. And you know I never thought of using .010 clear plastic for the winshield. I know I have some clear evergreen plastic in my stash, I will have to see if I have that size and maybe just make a whole new winshield. Thanks for that tip.
Pro Tech Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Chris, super job on the body mods, that's alot of work but it paid off, looking sweet! Looking forward to that powerplant buildup. Charlie Pro Tech

Joe Nunes Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Looks good like that, Mike. Different yet tastful without looking "tight". Joe
Mooneyzs Posted March 20, 2010 Author Posted March 20, 2010 (edited) Hey Guys.... Sorry I haven't posted much on this lately but I was laid off work for 3 months and recently started a new job. So I have been getting settled in with it and haven't had much time to build much lately but I have a small update... Got the rear end painted up and hoping to get some more progress done in the next few days when I can squeeze some building time in. Edited July 9, 2017 by Mooneyzs
