Harry P. Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 the only thing i hate about the H2 is that probably 90% of them will never even see a dirt road about as off road as they will ever get is pulling into the driveway. So why hate the H2 when the owners are weenies? To me a Hummer is a symbol of yuppie wretched excess/conspicuous consumption to the ultimate degree. Every time I see one on the road I can't help but think that the person driving it must be a world-class jerk. And that's not fair of me, because not all Hummer owners are doofuses, but for some reason that's the reaction I always have. How about you guys?
Jon Cole Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 The number one reason to own a Hummer H1: TRAFFIC JAMS!
Jon Cole Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I like the H1. The H2 & H3 are nothing more than Hummer wannabe's, courtesy GM designed for increased sales. Someone here posted that Hummer should have stayed a niche model. I agree. In 2004 a local Classic Rock station gave a refurbished Humvee away. It was crude, no doors, but it did have a $5000 stereo system. Oh I wanted that thing sooo bad! They qualified 125 listeners, I was one of them. The number I drew... only two numbers off. I was that close! THIS is who I lost it to... Like she knew what the heck to do with it!
Harry P. Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 the majority of H2 owners bought those things because it was a "trendy" thing to do and in thier minds maybe made them feel like they were better than those who didn't have such a machine. Dave Yeah, that's exactly my point. Hummer owners buy Hummers not for the capabilities the car has, but for what they think being seen in one says about them to others. The problem is, the message that Hummer owners think they're sending (look at me, I am cooler than you) is different from the message they actually are sending (look at me, I'm a pathetic dork who needs attention and needs to feel superior to you because I'm so insecure myself!). As far as thrashing my Mustang... not really, not yet. Yeah, the V6 looks more or less identical, and in reality I would have been perfectly happy with one... but the price I found this one for was so freaking cheap that I couldn't pass it by! I still can't believe how little I paid for it... a lot less than the V6 normally goes for!
Jon Cole Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) "Hummer Summer" starring Ron J..........................well nevermind keep it up and this topic will be in the toilet too in no time flat. where's Mr. Sauber? Dave This topic started with a pic of a Hummer stage coach. Me'es says it was in the toilet from the get-go! No disrespect to the person posting that pic. Speaking of toilets... Limos? Rented at "Pimps 'r Us" no doubt! Bling. Bling. Next one is self explanatory: Hummer disabled by a pebble: Edited March 4, 2010 by Spyder
my name is nobody Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Well, I'm one of the idiots who bought one. Actually, I'm one of the 325 idiots who bought one in Dec.2009. I purchased a H3 because I like them. and it was the only Hummer availible with a 5 speed manual transmission. being it's a 2009 model, and it sat on the dealers lot for almost the whole year, I got a S C R E A M I N G deal on it. almost exactly half off sticker. I paid $20,000. and unlike some Hummer owners, mine actually gets slapped into four wheel drive all the time. of course, I live in Montana. Fuel Mileage? well, its just getting 22 mpg right now, but I plan to tinker with the exhaust and the air intake, maybe it will go up a little. a 240 Horsepower 5 cylinder, with a 5 speed manual transmission, and 4:56 gears, it does what I want it to. Sad to see so many people with so much hatred for a capable vehicle. I had a AM General H1 save my bacon in combat, more than once, so maybe that made me partial when I looked for a new vehicle.
wgflatliner Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 pff. all those solid axle "hummers" are weak. it's all about this beast of a hummer.

Buying a Hummer and actually using it as it was intended to be used, as you do, is perfectly legit. I'm talking about the people who live in the city, would never dream of going off-road, have no idea what 4-wheel drive even is, and use their Hummer to drive themselves to the tanning salon and back... and take up 2 parking spaces everywhere they go...
