hOLMS Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 This is my Vette I started about a week ago. It was already built and I was looking for a pro-mod subject to start, why not?? So far I've added a scale 5" to the front and 6.25" to the rear. I've also reworked the front, sides and front fenderwells. Hopefully, I can start some chassis work very soon as I'm excited to see where this one goes. Thanks for looking and everyone, please keep up the great work!!! hOLMS
caine440 Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Body work is looking good. That has always been tough for me. Keep us posted!

catpack68 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) body work is looking good so far.are you going with a blown engine for it? Edited March 7, 2010 by racer X
hOLMS Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 I think so...I really like that look on a pro-mod drag car with a 114"-115" wheelbase. I've never done a blown engine before, i think i have most of my research and ref pix for this setup. I'll need to scratchbuild my hood. Thanks for looking. hOMLS

Thanks for looking. hOMLS I've started the chassis...materials of choice are brass and copper, will use brass sheet on inner structural panels- plastic sheet on non-structural panels. Thanks for viewing, hOLMS
caine440 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 This is very interesting. I have never used brass for making a chassis. It is looking very nice.
brett Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) though your pics are a bit blurry your soldering looks to be very good. I've done a couple of brass chassis and the biggest issue I had was doing the four link brackets. makes for a heavy model though lol. Keep it up will be watching for sure Edited March 16, 2010 by brett

Agreed, pix are blurry...been working on that. This is my 2nd brass chassis, they are little bit heavy but strong. I'm thinking of maybe machining a few of the parts for the rear weldment. Hopefully I'll reach the building phase for the rear and turn into a rolling frame in a couple weeks. I'm anxious to get the wheels mounted. Below are some clearer pix. hOLMS
brett Posted March 19, 2010 Posted March 19, 2010 Looking GOOD man, can actually see whats going on keep it up! I cant build styrene chassis for nothing (from scratch) just cant keep bends looking tight and even but I've had a couple of success's with brass, can take and post a couple of pics if you want.

Please post pix, always good to see other peoples builds, especially in brass...... ps....I went to the four-wide nationals (qualifying) on Mar 27 in Charlotte NC.......Absolutely amazing to see/feel 32,000hp disturb the time and space around me, I really don't know how else to describe. Never experienced any kind of racing like that before. I hope to post new vette pix soon, been chassis-working pretty steady over the last week. hOLMS
hOLMS Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Hello all.....Updated pix of the chassis for my vette. Maybe this week or next, I can hang the suspension. Thanks for looking. hOLMS
