I wanted to build a Volksrod- to me that's nothing new. But this time, I wanted to keep it VW powered, but make it RWD. I also wanted to see if I could chop a Beetle body into a pickup style cab. I wanted to do a rat rod with a VW front axle, and I wanted to add a Farmall tractor style nose. Let's see... that's six objectives, and I nailed all of 'em!

The skinny- Chopped Revell Beetle body, scratchbuilt bed, '25 Model T chassis with '56 Beetle front axle and '55 Chevy pickup rear axle, scratchbuilt Farmall grille, Revell VW Pancake 4, Heller Citroen C4 rear tires and wheels, '56 Beetle dash, '66 Beetle steering wheel, '78 Courier steering column, and a wicked helping of parts box stuff.

very nice

i have something similar under the bench

mine is also VW powered RWD pickup

i am using a VW golf GTI plant with a custom build turbo mated to the RWD from a supra

i turned the stock body into a a pickup cab and extended the backseat/trunk into a bed

all that on a custom build ladder frame

I like it, epically retaining the VW engine mounted in front!

Very cool overall, but that's also my favorite part. Those tall Citroen tires are cool too.

I agree- that's why I'm using another pair of Citroen tires on my '56 Rat project (or would that be projekt?)-
