LUKE'57 Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Something new here. How about a 3-12 posting day? On one of the other boards I'm a regular on they do an engine size posting day that corresponds to the date. It gets a lot of participation and we get to see a lot of the members' builds they might not ordinarily post. What do you think about doing it here? We all love to look at others models and it would be a good excuse to show off your stuff and maybe spur some building with a deadline type show date. Since today is pretty much the first day of the year it could apply, since that little 221 V-8 was mostly an Indy engine, how about some of those '57 Fords from the Nifty Fifties and maybe even a Bobby Allison #312 Sportsman you've got lurking in the shadows? Here's the pick I did for the other board as a kickoff to get things started......................
old-hermit Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) Since today is pretty much the first day of the year it could apply Not to be picky but to name a few ... GM 207 215 216 228 302 307 ... Ford 215 223 226 302 Edited March 12, 2010 by old-hermit
Jon Cole Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) Hey Jerry I'd love to partake, but I don't have anything to qualify. Although I do currently have my Ford 37/57 Pickem Up on my bench (OK... dining room table ) It MAY end up with the nailhead... is that a 312 ci? Besides, am I even allowed to partake in anything "Spotlight"? I did make some bad choices, and pay the price. Actually, Spotlight is a good board, lots of participation over there (yeah, I keep my eye on it) I hope you get some results here. Sharing between the boards can't hurt I say. Tell them to come on over here... most of us are clean, we have had all our shots, and most of us are house trained. Edited March 12, 2010 by Spyder
CAL Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Yeah, I am banned. He thinks I single handedly tried to distroy his business. Which he is way over the top on. I am just another in a long list of fomers who have been either banned or left in a huff.
LUKE'57 Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) Well gee, that turned out really well. I tried to start a thread to see some of your work and it turned into a smack talk about another board. I know that there are smaller engines out there, especially the 223, but since I usually built the late model sportsman cars and my brother built the hobby division cars that ran them, I don't have any of them. Been thinking about building Soapy Castle's Nascar Grand National '51 Ford with the six but haven't got around to getting the resin '51 grill yet. Oh well, I guess I just don't have what it takes to set up a new thread here. BTW I just used the same picture so I didn't have to waste time doing a new just for here. Thought it would be alright but I know better now. FWIW I feel the same way about the SA no E board. Edited March 12, 2010 by LUKE'57
droogie Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Since you brought it up. I'm wondering what y block options are available in 1/25 scale. Which kits have them and what speed equipment?

If it said something about posting model photos, it would be opened by people who want to look or post. Your thread title is incredibly vague. It blows my mind when people post a thread with a title like "Looking for" and then get huffy when no one offers them a transaxle for their Tamiya 1/12 Lola T70.
Casey Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 We already missed 225 (Chrysler Slant Six), 302 (both Chevy and Ford), 305, 307 (both Chevy/GM), so at least we have 327 (Chevy and AMC), 331 (early Chrysler Hemi) coming up.
LUKE'57 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Sorry I didn't spell it out in triplicate for you. And since when is posting model car photos on here "turning it into something that it isn't"?
Harry P. Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 We already missed 225 (Chrysler Slant Six)... Yeah, baby! Leaning Tower of Power! My very first car had that engine ('67 Belvedere)... that thing was bulletproof! Great engine...
Jon Cole Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Jeez, try to hand the guy an olive branch, and he pokes me with a sharp stick!
LUKE'57 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) Spyder, don't know how you thought that was directed at you. I got a little behind on something I was doing here and forgot to commment on your "rat". I competely missed the '57 quarter panels on the truck bed. That is some very creative work and I really like it. If I offended you then I appologize. Edited March 13, 2010 by LUKE'57
whale392 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Don't forget the 318(both Poly and LA versions) Mopar! 401, Didn't someone also have a 403.....Olds maybe?, 406, 413, 426 (can we celebrate this one twice because it has two engine variations...wedge and Hemi!?),427 (both Ford and Chevy), 428, 429, 502, 528...........list can go on for a while just filling in the gaps I forgot or just don't know about. And yes, 302, 305, 307 for Chevy and 302 for Ford.
charlie8575 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Didn't someone also have a 403.....Olds maybe?, 4 Yes, 1977-79. VIN K. As evidenced in my 1977 Buick Estate Wagon. Charlie Larkin
old-hermit Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 list can go on for a while just filling in the gaps I forgot or just don't know about. How could you have forgotten the infamous GM 409 ???????
old-hermit Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) I believe this thread was started to show 312 Y block engines. Heres one of mine. Edited March 13, 2010 by old-hermit
LUKE'57 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Now that takes wicked to an art form. What kind of heads are those with the perimeter valve cover hold down bolts?
old-hermit Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 What kind of heads are those with the perimeter valve cover hold down bolts? Plastic !!!!!!!!! I don't know Luke. The valve covers are from a Lindberg kit.
LUKE'57 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Well, then it couldn't be a 312 then. Dog gone it, I thought us sandlappers were supposed to stick together better than that. You really skunked me on that one. I would have sworn it was a real rat rod. Don't know which is more impressive, the build or the photography. Great job on both.

You mean you didn't notice the hood and windshield of the white car he had the frame sitting on in the first couple pics!!
LUKE'57 Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 To be perfectly honest, I was so focused on the workmanship and attention to detail, no, I really didn't.
LDO Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Sounds like a silly idea anyway. How many production engines were 500ci or larger?
Greg Cullinan Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Maybe it can pertain to other areas of the automobile like years, wheelbase and anything else with a numeric value.
