Wow, my neighbor actually had one of these; a 1:1 pickup just about that same shade of tan. I've never seen another one, especially as a model. I thought it was one of the coolest trucks I've ever seen, the headlight bezels are like pie-tins on those old Dodges!

I'm sorry I don't have any help to offer you for the chassis selection, but I wish you luck, it already looks like you'll have fun!

Cool project!

The chassis.. you might be better off scratchbuilding a frame similar to the Ford Short Hauler (or using it, but lowering it a bit).

The front wheels look like Alcoa FrontRunners from the Ertl Transtar 4300 and CO4070B kit.

Air conditioner from an AMT Peterbilt 359 (sort of)

Len, I'd go with one of the Ford Loiusville Truck chassis too. Or you could scratchbuild one from Evergreen. But I THINK it might just be easier to go with one of the Ford chassis in the long run. Nice lookin body, never seen that particular one, where'd you get it?biggrin.gif

Keith Scorsi cast the cab it's an improved version of tom coolidge and charles Rowley cab. but it doesn't have the correct front fenders. the short hauler would be the chassis to start with. There will be a resin/laser cut body available for the hauler along with decals in the future. Be aware that competion resin displayed a bootleg version of keith's cab at a recent show. Buy keith's cab.

Hey Len, I have the same project planned as well as the Tom McEwen's Mongoose hauler. I have lots of reference pics of the real trucks on my Fotki site that might be of use to your project.

Will do Ben. Waiting for reply from Vince about the laser cut plastic for the "hauler" part of this build.

Didn't Sox and Martin run a similar set-up?

And thanks for the reference to the cab! Dad has had many 68-71 Dodge D200s and I could use this cab as a starting point for a build of one of his trucks!
