Monty Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 1) In the 60s, Ford had a color called Candy Apple Red. Despite the name, it wasn't a "candy" color like this: Is there a hobby paint that duplicates that shade of red? 2) Teal - one definition I saw said "a greenish-blue". In your Crayola 64-pack, the color I want is Green-Blue, but Testors' enamel and acrylic teals are more of a Blue-Green. Here's kind of a starting point: Is there a hobby paint that duplicates that shade? TIA for all helpful replies.
rick6343 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 For the teal, you might want to look into Testor's Grabber Green lacquer. It might be a bit lighter or slightly greener than your sample. If you want an acrylic, look at the Polly Scale railroad colors for something close. They're flat, but it is possible to clear and polish them into glossiness. 1) In the 60s, Ford had a color called Candy Apple Red. coopdad Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Hey all, found this cool site a few weeks ago. It will allow you to match model paint to a photo. Basically you load a photo into the viewer and click on an area on that photo. Then click the "show matching paint" button. The software will tell you what brands of paint match it best. If you click the "+" button you can deselect the brands that are not available in your area. You can also have it pick only spray or many other options. http://scalemodeldb.com/paint Warning, the site is addictive... I spent about an hour when I first found the site, uploading photo after photo to see the best matches. It says Model Master 52703 CheZoom Teal Pearl is pretty close... a little darker. John
mikemodeler Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 MCW Scale Auto Finishes has many factory correct colors available in airbrush and sparay cans. They can also color match if needed and they offer great service as well!
