my 70 chevelle ss Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Evening, I have been reading all the GREAT tips you have been giving me as I got the new PE parts today & if these go into the bliss that will be it. Having said that & foregive me for asking this but what is POSTER TACK? & KRYSTAL KLEAR? as I like all the tips you have all gave me but I know I will have to move them so the Krystal Klear sounds like something I should use & I have tried tweezers & forget about it! Also where do I find these prducts? Thank you again! Will,

Karmodeler2 Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Krystal Klear is a great white glue, (dries clear & virtually invisible, can be cleaned up with water while wet & is water proof once dry Not sure if that's true Mark. I often will put a drop of water near where parts have been glued with KK and the capillary action will cause the water to go between the parts and the model and re-soften the dried glue back to a wet state and allow me to remove the part(s). I often will use KK because of this feature. I can always go back, months or years later, and put some water on it, wait, and then remove the part with no damage to the model. Not arguing, just pointing out how it works. Elmers glue (NOT the school glue, the original stuff) will do the same thing for a lot less money. And has the same strength. I had a friend that asked me to help him repair a model at a show, and I used Elmers and he was shocked how strong and well it held. David

Will, Here's another method to attach PE parts.Cut off and prep the part as you would normally, then attach it to clear decal film with Future,or any clear acryllic. Let dry and the apply the PE and decal film as you would a decal.Any decal film left on around the PE can be removed by using the different decal solvents. Disclaimer:I've yet to try this, but I know its been done, but I can't remember who gave the tip. Mike

David That's exactly how Formula 560 Canopy glue works, and I use it for exactly the same reasons...it's safe on paint, easy to clean up any excess, dries clear...and if by chance the part needs to be made "non-permanent", a drop of water, wait a bit...and the part comes right off. Extremely handy...if it stays dry, it's hard as a rock and very strong once fully cured (and that can take a long time beyond initial cure).
Karmodeler2 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Interesting. I had always heard & was under the assumption that KK was waterproof once dry, & David I don't doubt what you say a bit. Live & learn. Hey Mark, I was just letting you know I was not coming from a confrontational standpoint. I have done that before on this board when I see others lying about stuff that I know is a lie and I tend to speak my mind.....basically call a spade a spade. I just did not want it to sound confrontational towards you and I never thought you would doubt me. That's why I wrote it that way in the first post. I thought it would sound okay to say " not arguing". David
