VW Dave Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 My wife and I visited a friend of hers near Atlanta this past weekend, for her son's 1st birthday; we found out that Bruce Weiner's famous microcar museum was not far from there, and it was only open on the first day of our visit.....we made that our first stop, straight from the airport. We are very much into micros, and we were treated like family by the owner's wife while there. This place is worth the trip from anywhere!! There's just over 150 pics at the link below, which is roughly half the number of cars in the museum MICRO MACHINES!! Here's one that Hotwheels fans might recognize, and it's fully functional to boot:
crazyjim Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Must have been a good time at what looks like a pretty neat place.
Modelmartin Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 They have an outstanding website with about a kajillion photos. I want to go to this place REAL BAD. My lhttp://www.microcarmuseum.com/ink
Harry P. Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Is this place related to the Clown Car Hall of Fame?
Modelmartin Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Is this place related to the Clown Car Hall of Fame? You would know! Those big ol' lawn ornaments you build are almost as big as the cars in the museum!
Zoom Zoom Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Looks like a great visit! I live in Atlanta and haven't yet been out there (limited hours being one excuse). How did you like the High Museum "Allure of the Automobile" exhibit? I've seen some photos on Ferrarichat from the week prior to opening to the public...they have some seriously epic cars on display (though many I've seen before). The Tucker looks like it gleams, compared to it's previous faded-to-satin appearance that was due to old age. Our ACME club will get a group discount...looking forward to it. Hope you had a good time in Atlanta
VW Dave Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Bob - Atlanta was a great time, even though we were only there a few days. The GA aquarium was a blast, as was the car exhibit @ the High......although their rule of 'camera phones only' came as a bit of a shock; we found out after buying our tickets and entering the elevator. Needless to say, I only have about 6 pics from there due to limited memory in my pretty lousy phone camera. I struck out seeing AAA Hobbies in Marietta, as they are closed Sundays and Mondays; didn't get to go over there until Sunday. We did go to the Kennesaw HobbyTown store, and I was pretty blown away - the Albany NY store would fit in there at least twice with some 'rattle room' to spare.
