bsoder Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 This is a build I'm working on for the Feb. NNLW ..it's an old AMT promodelar kit with a few "enhancements" ...B
slappy55 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 great start 8) color looks good. motor looks great too! where did u get the body stand ? would like to have one ...thnx chris
Al Maciejewski Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 That's always been a favorite build of mine from Popular Hot Rodding. Which version are you doing- one of the earlier incarnations, or the most recent? The color looks great- what paint are you using? Keep us posted on the progress! Al Maciejewski
bsoder Posted January 10, 2007 Author Posted January 10, 2007 Thanks guys..Chris the stand is made by Tamiya and is available from a number of hobby suppliers,it's a great tool !..Al ..well it's kinda my incarnation ..the Project X 57 gave me the inspiration  I'm using Tamiya Lemon Yellow with a little clear yellow mixed in....B
Guest zebm1 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Which version of Hot Rod's Project X are yu doing Brian? Maybe it was Popular Hot Rodding, just saw a review of that car in a recent issue of Hot Rod.
bsoder Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 Well Henry I'm kind of doing my own version...using the project X as my uhh.."inspiration.. 8) ....B
Casey429 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 I saw that issue of Hot Rod. Project X was a Popular Hot Rodding project car beginning the 60's. In it's current incarnation, It spots a 502 Ramjet and a 4L80E transmission. I like the way this is looking, especially after finishing my own '57. The only difference I see it that Project X is a 210 sedan, and yours is a Bel Air Coupe.
bsoder Posted January 11, 2007 Author Posted January 11, 2007 OK.OK Casey so their's a few "minor" discrepancys actually theirs a few major ones  actually I just got the basic scheme looking at some pics. of the actual car and now I'm excercising my "artistic" license .....B
Guest zebm1 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Just a small detail Brian, does yur 57 have tha top part of tha grille afixed to tha snout of tha hood? Casey's model didn't, which is incorrect for 57 chubbys, not Casey's fault. Twas tha model kit maker's oversight. If yu remember tha original 57 chubby kit by Revell - mid 60s, it was correct.
Charlie Magers Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Brian, I love the color. This is a yellow 57 I saw at a local cruise in.
BIGTRUCK Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I like it Brian...its moving along nicely...How can you go wrong with a '57 Chevy...its always been a cool subject..
Steve H. Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Saw it in the flesh tonite and its lookin' pretty good!
bsoder Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 Saw it in the flesh tonite and its lookin' pretty good! UHH..Hey Steve you talkin' about me or the car! ....B
ratrodder Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Yes, I remember project X. That was a nice build in Popular Hot Rodding in the good ole days. We use to see it pop up once in a while in the later issues. I wonder where that car went. Anyone know? I can't wait to see your model of that. ...ratrodder
Guest zebm1 Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 I think Peterson Publishing still owns that car. and they are still trying stuff out.
charlie Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 That is a really nice looking 57 chevy.I wanted one few years back with the correct body for project X but never finish it.it's one of my parts boxes
