caine440 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I did this one out of the box for what was to be a easy build while working on the tough ones. This thing turned out to drive me nuts! Paint did not want to stick so I decided to just use the decals and they fought some. The paint was really nice on the roof till I turned it over to try and get the back end to fit and I scratched the hell out of it. I get all done and it does not sit level. So I fixed that and gave up on it. This is as good as this one gets.
RodneyBad Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 What fun would a out of the box build be with out a wee bit of extra work? It all looks good from here. Nice work..
Matt LeBlanc Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I had to paint mine 2 times. So i know about the frustration!!!!
David G. Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 It was well worth all the trouble you went through, it looks great!
walt francis Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I wouldn't be disappointed in that, it really looks good.
nails3825 Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Considering all the trouble you went through, it turned out great!
caine440 Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 Thanks guys! You can hide a lot with creative camera work.
Casey Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I built this kit when it first came out and I remember the parts had an overall "thick" feeling to them, and I think that shows up in a few places once the entire kit is assembled. Compared to an AMT or Revell kit, the body was thicker, as were a few other parts like the inner fenders and radiator support. I don't know if this was an accident or if it was intentional on Lindberg's part, but the extra thickness left me a bit disappointed.
rustybill1960 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Not bad looking for a pain Thank You for sharing Later Russ
Jairus Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 I am building one of those for someone. Body only as it will sit on a slot car chassis. Never had problems getting paint to stick since I sanded, primed and shot all colors in lacquer BUT... I found that the left and right decals do not match! Some places the decals follow the chrome trim and on the other side it follows the roof line perfect. Now I wish I had simply masked and painted the blue instead of relying on the decals... which required mixing a blue to match for the spaces not covered and the roof! Now... how to replace those missing red lines? (yes, it went back into the box for a while)
charlzrocks Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 It should be called "Color Me Pissed Off"! After all your troubles it is still a great looking build!!
