hemithunder Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Finished this today and thought I'd throw it up.. I started out with a willy's gluebomb and accidently set it on top of 40 ford front clip. It looked cool so I started cutting. Engine is a Desoto "Fire Dome" Hemi. The interior is the rear seat section of a 58 Impala. I weathered the paint and added dimpled welds to appear like they were unfinished. Because my father always says, "poor country boys use what they have." Hope you like it. Comments welcome.
Duntov Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Drew: This is interesting. Looks a bit like a moonshine runner! I also like your dads idea of "using what you have". I have done a couple of builds that were very successful by "limiting" myself to what the real 1:1 car (and builder) could have had on hand....given date-place-time of build etc. This one looks good and I really like the approach..... Regards Bill (Duntov)
Sixties Sam Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Looks like that '40 front end was made for the Willys. Nice job! The weathering looks like you just found it in a barn! Sam
jedimastergary Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Looks great like they were meant to be together it one cool rat rod like they had a ford front and Willys body and threw it together so they ad a car

Eshaver Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Ya know I bet Edsel Ford had already had this idea and the "Old man " probably Kyboshed it too. Budd Body company which made a lot of bodies for the Ford Comapany would have been the company to have done this one had Ford not been in such dire financal straights then . Very interesting ride ! Casey Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Are those the large diameter Chevy rally wheels from the recent Revell '57 Bel Air release? I like the body combo. It reminds me of the nose conversions they had for VW Beetles in the '70s.

made007 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 i wanted to cast those rims, but i havent found the black force slammer
CEKPETHO BCE Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Can't believe I failed to notice it was supposed to be a Willys. I thought that Ford looked a bit off. Lmao two of (many) fav cars and I couldnt notice it. Never though of it, but mixing the two makes perfect sense visually.
