Monty Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I posted this listing over in Swap, Trade or Free: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29899 As indicated, the post has been viewed well over 100 times, but not a single response. Do you think it's because: A] No one on this forum has this kit? B] I'm stifling interest in the trade by only offering one kit in return? C] People are put off by the proviso that asks disreputable traders to stay out of it? D] Other (show your work!) The kit I'm looking for isn't particularly valuable, let alone rare, so I'm a bit puzzled.
Modelmartin Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Speaking strictly for myself, I don't look in the swap section because I have too many models already. Even If I did I don't have that particular kit to trade off. Your post was fine. If I did need something and had that kit to trade, I wouldn't have hesitated to PM you about it.

The other part is your title is vague, so people have to view the post to see what it is you want, thus the 113 views.
CAL Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I, too, very rarely look there myself. I happen to have this kit, with a PE detail set, however, I do plan on building it. I am not too big on trading either because I have bought ever kit in my collection for a specific reason so I will either build it or sell it, but very unlikely I would trade for it. For me it seems like a lot of work, package, shipping, waiting, the uncertianty, for net even trade, minus the work, package, shipping and if something happens. Not interested. Sorry. If it was local and we could do it on the spot and you really had something I wanted much more than this Corvette, because honestly, I am only moderately interested in it, I would condsider trading.
Casey Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 It was a "one and done" kit- released in that version only once and not all that popular. I know two members have the kit with wheels missing, and you stated you need it to be complete, so that elimintaes their kits. I was looking for the same kit for the Minilite wheels and one member generously donated them to me. The kits are not hard to find on eBay for $20, so that might be your best route.
CAL Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 A would be part of it. The other part is your title is vague, so people have to view the post to see what it is you want, thus the 113 views. I agree, the number of views are reflective of people going in just to see what you are exactly after.
Casey Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Maybe it's because you can't accept any new PMs, either, Monty?

The kit I'm looking for isn't particularly valuable, let alone rare, so I'm a bit puzzled. Monty, as CAL and YJIslander said, the title is a little vague, and I was one of the one's who viewed, but did not reply. I fit in option A. I feel option B is good, if I had the kit and would do the trade, I would only expect 1 kit in return, unless it was your idea to send more. As for option C, I don't blame you one bit! We know most of the bad traders, but if they come in a thread, then everyone who's mad with them start their ranting, then the one's who are friends of the other guy start defending him, you all know who I'm talking about!! I wouldn't want them in any of my trade threads either! Good luck finding the kit!
Guest Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 As follows. 1. I looked at your ad 2. I have the kit 3.the kit is incomplete, as I gave the minilite wheels to someone 4. I cant afford to ship it to you 5. Therefore, no response
Monty Posted April 19, 2010 Author Posted April 19, 2010 Maybe it's because you can't accept any new PMs, either, Monty? Wasn't aware of that. Apparently I've got some tidying up to do. Thanks Casey!

Second , I just looked at the post , third I will look and IF I see one in the future I might even remember to give yopu a P- M to see if you still want one . As for the Bad news traders , I know who they are , no , you're currently not on any of my lists of traders nither good nor bad . Ed Shaver
Nick Winter Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 I looked at the post but I don't build corvette's and have only ever had one kit and it was a snaptite.
Guest Johnny Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Monty! I looked at it and saw what you were looking for. I checked with a couple local guys and they didn't have one either to I had no reason to reply! I always look at wht others are trying to find and if I think I can help I will look into it! Sorry I couldn't help!
my name is nobody Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 (edited) I too read the post originally. I do have the kit. its in mint condition, still shrink wrapped. would trade it away, as I have built a few mid-year Corvettes already and dont really feel like building another right now. HOWEVER Since You Did Not Post Your Location, And I Have No Idea Where On This Planet You Reside, I Did Not Answer For Fear The Postage Would Be Astronomical! One of my pet peeves, at least have the decency to let people know what part of the globe you live on. Edited April 20, 2010 by CJTORINO

HOWEVER Since You Did Not Post Your Location, And I Have No Idea Where On This Planet You Reside, I Did Not Answer For Fear The Postage Would Be Astronomical! One of my pet peeves, at least have the decency to let people know what part of the globe you live on. I started this thread to determine why my listing failed so badly. Now, with feedback from you and a few others, I can see why things transpired the way they did. You had a valid point about there not being a ship-to location listed, however that was more a result of the software changeover than anything. Once I was aware of the problem, it was quickly rectified. Thanks for being candid.
LDO Posted April 20, 2010 Posted April 20, 2010 Non-descriptive thread title. Non-descriptive thread title. Non-descriptive thread title. My favorite are ads in the "wanted" section, titled "Wanted".
