Okay...so I've had a couple of stints at the bench with the SVO. Wheels were stripped of chrome and painted gunmetal. Interior is about done, just need to put some clear on the gauges, a couple of paint touch-ups and put it together. I keep forgetting to take the camera down to the bench...sorry!

Body is looking good in semi-gloss black. Need to remember to paint the headliner to match the interior...alos need to mock it up before I go any further to make sure the suspension isn't too high...smile.gif

I've been promising update photos on my 85 SVO build...Sorry to keep you waiting, thank you for your patience and for looking!

Body done in Krylon semi-gloss black. Came out good the second time (had some crazing the first time...didn't 'sneak-up' on it enough)

Interior done in Tamiya flat grey. Will be adding some embossing powder for carpet shortly-it's darker than the paint, so should be good.

Some other bits and pieces - wheels are Tamiya gunmetal after stripping the chrome-flat black in the vents.

I like it! The body color and wheels give the car a sinister look. I think you've got a winner on your hands here Tony. Keep us posted.......

That's very cool. What body did you use for this one? Early Monogram 1/24 or MPC 1/25?

More information and pics please. Always good to see more Foxes.

Eric's right, its the MPC 20th anniversary 84 Mustang Kit. I've done 4 or 5, this is the only one I have pics of on my new computer.

Got a bit more work done...embossing powder for carpet, engine nearly finished with plug wires...I remembered to take the camera down to the basement and did take some pictures...cameras still down there...I promise to post them when I remember to bring the camera upstairs! :D

Thanks for updating us, Tony!

With all the work I have been doing with my 1:1 Mustangs lately, I ought to just post pics of them here!

Summertime here means working on the real cars (to keep them running through the summer!) and cruising them whenever possible. Too soon old man winter sends him minions in to chill the air and quell the excitement of warmth.

I have been working on the scale FOXes some too, just not as much and as fast as I would like. Then again, a $4,000.00 pile of suspension, brake, chassis, wheels, and trans parts in the garage (awaiting install on my 1991GT) is a good reason. The Volvo head conversion to my 2.3Turbo has finally started again with most of the block machining getting done and a friend who has a 'machine shop' in his garage turning me some much needed parts.

As to scale FOXes, I have the listed 83 GLX convertible I am working on, along with an 85 SVO Track car, an 87 Thunderbird TurboCoupe pro-tourer, 6 MPC Mustang hatches in various stages of mock-up, a Revell Turbo Capri, some more Revell-Monogram 1/24th Mustang convertibles from 1987+, the Cobra-to-GT conversion in this thread, and countless other FOX projects. I could bore you to death with both scale and 1:1 project pics!

Tony, all of your detailing is looking great. I particularly like the valve cover and engine bits, along with the tail lights and front lighting. Keep at them, I do love to look at your progress and hope to have some photo updates of my own soon.

Bradley-In my area, summer is much too short, too! I have a 1:1 in my garage ('67 Beetle Herbie replica) that has been stalled due to lack of funds, so I understand the desire to install a $4,000 pile of parts!! Not to mention a cold garage unless it is insulated and heated. I hope you get done what you want to on the GT.

Your list of scale projects is long! I'm looking forward to following along when you do get to them!!

Thanks for the comments on my build...progress is progress and I'm nearing the end. A couple more trips to the bench should finish this one.

To be perfectly honest Tony, it is I who am glad that you are building the scale FOXes and showing them here. You, GTMust (the second Tony), venom...............you guys make it here in 'our' own little corner of the board. Everyone who has participated so far has made it worthwhile.

I like the Bugs, and was it 1966 or 1967 that was the last year for the wide-5 bolt pattern and the 'flush' headlights/smaller turn signals-tail lights? I wanted to build up an earlier bug with either an 1800 dual-port or a 2332 injected hooked to a bus transaxle sporting Porsche gears. Run an earlier Ghia front beam, later rear axles/beams, and stick her down low over either some Empis or Riveras.

The parts pile for the 1991GT is a very distinguished list of goodies: Maximum Motorsports Tubular K-Member, AJE tubular SN95 A-arms, Ford Racing M-2300-K Cobra front spindles/rotors/calipers/master cylinder/brake booster, Russell braided Stainless brake hoses, Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable struts, Steeda Caster-Camber plates and Bumpsteer corrector Tie-Rod ends, Eibach Sport series drop springs, Steeda 3-point strut brace and tubular sway bar/end link kit, Chromoly 2"x3" through-the-floor subframe connectors with seat rail reinforcement plates/driveshaft safety loop/jacking rails/matrix bracing made from 1"x1" mild steel tubing, 4" Ford Crown Vic Police issue (shortened) Aluminum driveshaft, Evolution Motorsports 3-link rear suspension set-up, Fays2 Watts Link axle locator, Steeda Weight-Jacker lower control arms, completely rebuilt 3.27:1 geared 8.8" rear with Ford M-2300-K Cobra brakes/Russell Stainless brake hoses/FRPP Aluminum diff cover, Eibach sport lowering springs, Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks, Steeda tubular rear sway bar................just a few goodies suspension/brakes-wise waiting to go in. I already have the springs in the car, and it has been converted to 5lug using 1996 GT front spindles/rotors/calipers and Ranger rear axles/drums. Cooling will be handled by a re-cored (high intensity core) stock radiator with a Taurus electric fan. It has been upgraded to the 130amp alternator, so the fan will be no problem electrically. I have a bunch of body mods/parts waiting as well. But enough of the 1991GT, back to the builds of SCALE FOXes!

It's fun little corner we got going on here!

'67 was the last year for wide 5 and the "towel-bar" bumpers and the first year for 12 volt electrics (upright headlights). I will use 66 and earlier fenders and headlights (6v) with 12 v bulbs to give it a back-dated look for the Herbie look.

Sounds like a mighty cool list of parts there to accomplish your goal and vision!! Would love to see pictures when it's done.

Well, my Whislter Mustang has some braggin' rights...2nd place in Out of the Box class yesterday across the river in Gatineau QC at the AMRO show.

There were some nice builds there...here's the album that I took.

Gotta get pics again on the SVO - interior, chassis and body are united, wheels & tires on...just needs headlights, taillights and plates attached without messing up the paint!! I'll get you caught up soon!

Since the community build is over, and the thread is now open to all Foxes, (I hope I read that right) here's another old build of mine, an '89 LX that I built in 1990. The two major kits were both Monograms, the '89 GT convertible and the '79 Turbo Cobra. The body is GT in the middle, '79 below the side trim and from above the taillights to the front fenders, including the window sills. Everything else that wasn't in those kits was scratch built or parts box except the wheels, which are Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland, bought right when they were released. The embossed MUSTANG lettering in the front and rear bumpers was cut from the GT side skirts, the 1/4 windows were cut from an '85 Corvette windshield, the LX emblem on the trunk was cut from a piece of chrome flash, Ford ovals were cut from magazine ads, rear spoiler was reshaped from the '79 piece, taillights were built from styrene sheet and painted with various reds and clear to try to make them look reasonable, interior tub is GT with the hatch area from the '79... and so forth. It was a fun build at a time when almost nothing aftermarket was made for Foxes. I've got a few others that I can post when I can photograph them. I'm a major Fox head, I own three real ones.

Tony, it has been a long slow process. I also have my 84 GT Turbo undergoing a full-on restomod, which is getting expensive and time consuming. The list of parts for it (some made) is VERY long!

Mike, you read it correctly, and that LX is sweet! Thanks for sharing it with us, and you are more than welcome to post more FOXes if you have them/when you build them.

84 GT Turbo under restoration, as well??? Wow, that is dedication!! I knew you had a few 1:1s, could remember how many and didn't realize the extent of the work being done...just 2 under resto, or are you trying to make them all drool-worthy?? :)

There's a Fox 'Stang for sale around the corner from me, it's a 4 eye..I think 83 or 84 by the grille. It's got a custom paint scheme (3 tone, silver with 'burple' and black) that I'm not too keen on, so didn't look closely (not that I have the $$$ either). It doesn't look like it's moved since spring and it's sitting on grass which is growing up under it (moisture trap!). I'll grab a picture if I think of it.

Thanks Tony. I have: 1) 83 Mustang GLX convertible (triple Black car with a V6/C5 auto), 2) the 84 GT Turbo Mustang 5spd undergoing a full-on race-prepped chassis with a DOHC Volvo head swapped 2.3T Ford (I am doing the conversion) and a Viper-spec T56/03 Cobra IRS, 3) 1986 Mustang GT t-top 5spd, which has since been cut up to use as parts for the 84 GT Turbo restomod, 4) the aforementioned 1991 Mustang GT that is getting a fully stocked suspension rebuild (track/road car) with a 10.5:1 306cid/5spd (for the near future, but I have a Teksid 4.6L DOHC engine that will be rebuilt into a 5.0L DOHC/twin-turbo mill hooked to a Viper-spec T56).

I LOVE the 4eye FOXes in particular, but have love for all FOXes as a whole.

And now...for your viewing pleasure...the completed Revell '85 SVO Mustang!! It isn't perfect, but I'm happy with the end results!
