Gregg Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Guys, this is the new software. I will be working out the bugs. I want it to automatically log you in if you are logged into forum. Right now, no can do. Chat Room
Gregg Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 Right now, the chat room is not linked/synced to your forum log in. I will work on that it is a pain but, it's working Art Anderson was the first person to enter the new chat room, and he won the grand prize!!!!
Gregg Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 The chat room is pretty cool In order to use the Private Chat, each person has to be logged in, not as a Guest, but with a screen name and password, and it asks for your email address. Now, when I get the Chat Room synced to the forum and the new site, it will be automatic.
PatRedmond Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Logged me in automatically this morning. Cool. Let's see how many we can pile into it now.
Gregg Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 I repeat, the Chat Room is not automatically linked to your forum log in. It may take it, based on your cookies, but it is not set up to do that automatically. You will have to type in your Log In Name, and if you keep it the same as your forum screen/log in name, it will help both of my two remaining brain cells happy that they don't have to be overworked to try and remember who is who. Thanks.

Thanks. i tried registering and i kept getting an error. special characters not allowed. wasnt using any though
Jordan White Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Yeah I was getting an "incorrect login", and I tried both my site login as well as my username here. No dice. So guest it is!
Guest Johnny Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Worked fine for me! Just entered my site name and right in! I don't really use chat rooms because my H&P skills are too slow! By the time I respond they are already on the next subject!
B_rad88 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 so we have to register to sign in? i tried as a guest it worked, but i guess i should register too? oh well, i'll just do that anyways. this is cool gregg, awsome job!
Gregg Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 You can log in as a Guest, but you can't access Private Chat (to other members). The registration does not involve receiving an email validation, it just logs you and your email and IP, that's all. You can make up anything you want, or use your Forum name.

B_rad88 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 hey, did you post the chat room up on facebook? ect.? this guy named moses came in saying hes not a member herre but he found the chat on facebook? just curious.....
B_rad88 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Yups like five minutes ago! ok, cool. well i don't have a facebook, or any of those retard spam social network sites..... i did have a myspace... but yeah, that didn't go so well, so i don't join them....... lol
B_rad88 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 ok, it won;t let Photobucket links work in chat... WHY? its not fair, lol.
B_rad88 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 and its not letting some members use there user names? i registerd just fine.... but yeah.....
MrObsessive Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Just checked it out Gregg................looks terrific!
PatRedmond Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Highest number i've seen is 14 chatters with no problems so far.
Railfreak78 Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Gregg the chat works great! I told Pat that the only thing I would change is the fact that you can not scroll up. Years ago I was on Global Communications Network which was all chat rooms. Once you get a large group going it is very easy for a slow typing person or someone with multiple convo's to loose where they are. If they can scroll up they can see what they missed. Other than that it is working very well and I love the suttle MCM logo hidden in the background. Thanks for bringing it back!

Jordan White Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Try turning off Auto Scrol on bottom Nope that doesn't work. If you didn't quite understand what he meant, he's saying that the software only keeps so many lines of the conversation available to scroll up and down to look at. However, there is a button above the reply box (with a hand holding a pen) that opens up a new tab/window and gives a transcript of the entire conversation since you've signed in.
Nick Notarangelo Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Im in now and no maid service or wet bar
Gregg Posted April 26, 2010 Author Posted April 26, 2010 Okay, now there are two Chat Rooms. One on the original first post, and another integrated here into the Forum. If you look above, at the header menu bar, there is a "Chat" link. This is the software from the forum software company. It can take up to 50 online users. Harry and I think that should be okay. the other Chat Room, is unlimited, and you can do private one-on-one chats, so may want to use both. Enjoy, and let me know if any problems.
Raul_Perez Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Gregg, I tried using the chat room through the link at the top of the main web page but I can't see what I'm typing and I can only post a message if I select an emicon first... Suggestions?
