Casey Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Any help identifying which kit(s) these Goodyear Wrangler AT tires were originally included with is appreciated. I want to say they were used in the AMT 1/25 Snap Fast Dodge Ram Pickup, but I can't say for sure and would like to I.D. them for the Off-Road Tire Database.
highway Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Casey, they are NOT from the Dodge kits, the Dodge dually had BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A tires with no tire size markings like these, sorry if the pics aren't real good. I though they may have been in the 1993 Ford Ranger Splash or the mid 90's Chevy S10, but both of these have Firestones. Then I remembered one more AMT pickup kit I have and BOOM, there they were. I found them in here: I'm not sure, but I would assume they were probably in the shortbox, stepside, and Lightning issues of the F150's as well, but this is the only kit of that style F150 I have.
highway Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 I'm surprised the pics of the tires turned out so nice, they didn't look that good on the camera and photobucket!
highway Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 Thanks for the pics and info, Matthew. No problem, Casey, I'm always happy to help whenever I can!
RodneyBad Posted April 29, 2010 Posted April 29, 2010 I'd think the tires are off of the AMT ford snap Ranger? Sorry, don't have one on hand to check right now.
highway Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I'd think the tires are off of the AMT ford snap Ranger? Sorry, don't have one on hand to check right now. I didn't even know AMT made a snap version Ranger. The only ones I've ever seen was the Ranger STX and Splash glue kits.
Eric Stone Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I can check and see if they are in the Lightning, but I doubt it because it's a performance model. I also have an F150 short/wide I can check this weekend. I'll report back with what I find.
Casey Posted May 1, 2010 Author Posted May 1, 2010 I just remembered the SAE '97 F-150 comparison article from '96, and it appears the tires are indeed AMT sourced, as the '97 F-150 kit included them.

YOu'd have to take my word on that. I know I've built one or two for a Friends kids Many Moons ago. It was molding in black and had self adhesive stickers. Dang it to all heck, I aint got one to show. Weird, Eh? Just when ya think ya got it all
RodneyBad Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I think we have another match. I miss that truck Darn, tires are different. Guess I was rong
highway Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Actually, Casey, the tires on the Snap Ranger look like the BFGoodrich tires like on my Dodge. I zoomed in on your pic and they appear to have the same tread patten as the Dodge's.
Kenny Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) Casey, they are NOT from the Dodge kits, the Dodge dually had BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A tires with no tire size markings like these, sorry if the pics aren't real good. .... My Dodge snapper (3/4 ton, not the dually) came with Firestone Radial ATX tires: I'll try and get a better pic. All of my AMT F150s came with 9.25-10.00-15 Goodyears, same ones from the early 90's C1500s. Edited May 4, 2010 by Kenny
