John Teresi Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hello......this started with a Competition Resins "wedge' body.......Slixx decals......scratch built chassis.......Don Garlits engine......wired and plumbed.....H.O.K. kandy apple red.......I built this 2 1/2 years ago......NHRA forum is remembering wedge dragsters.......I thought I would share mine here.......thank`s
Old Coyote Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Absolutely stunning build Mr. T ............. your modeling skills are unbelievable
Reeves Racing Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Wow John another super detail job. What technique do you use to make the tire lettering look realistic and not so stark white? Thx, Mitch
Romell R Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) You did a excellent job on that wedge my friend im always floored by your work...... And that park looks awfully familure is that the park off VanNuys and Vanowen or is it in compton? ( I used to live in VanNuys and Compton) Edited May 5, 2010 by Aftashox
whale392 Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 What scale do you build in? They look absolutely lifelike....so much so that I have a hard time believing that they really are scale renditions! Where do you get the wrinklewall slicks at.........that is one of the MAJOR contributors to this kits realism. Just awesome once again John!
Pro Tech Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Hey John, another beautiful build from the master! love the wedge and your work Charlie Pro Tech
John Teresi Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 Hello......this is a 1/24 scale build.......the slicks are from a Revell dragster kit.........I took a small file and filed slits on the sides if the slick......to resemble wrinkles ...........this was done before they started making slicks with wrinkle walls in them.......I like to use the new wrinkle wall slicks now......they look better than what I used to do.....they also make alot of new stuff that I like to use ......instead of making my own.......but like I said this model was built when I first started building 2 1/2 years ago......thank`s so much for the nice comments........I really do appreciate them.......thank`s.
Dragline Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 JOHN!!! I have this one in the pile somewhere. I have the decals as well. This one sure is nice so I'm going to use it as inspiration when I get to mine. Outstanding. Bob
caine440 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Another stunning car! You are indeed a artist! Love it!
el Presidente Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Working at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for the past 35 years, it is always a pleasure to see your work John. It reminds me of when racecars were works of art and sometimes sick imaginations. Great job
KevinJarvis Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 (edited) That is a great looking piece of work. But I was under the impression, that the body IS the chassis of the car. Edited May 10, 2010 by KevinJarvis
weasel Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 nicely done, but, that car was a monocoque chassis wasn't it??
