Diesel Gypsy
A little help here please guys. I've been collecting kits & parts to build some of the trucks from the film Convoy. I've got a few now & am starting to builb them up. Trouble is I can't identify the tractor that Spidermike drives. I think its a Pete but I'm not sure. A source for the parts needed to build it would be great too. Thanks for your time.
Old Albion
Dave, I think Spider Mike's truck is a Diamond Reo. Dave Bates
Diesel Gypsy
Dave, Thanks for the info, I,ve just realised that I miss spelt Spider's handle. Dohe! Its not easy to get a good look at the truck on video. Maybe if I get the film on DVD I can run it frame by frame on the PC. I've got the VC running the film as i type this.......You could well be right...it does look like a Reo. Cheers.
Aaronw
I'm pretty sure there is a comment from Pig Pen / Love Machine refering to the questionable pedigree of Spider Mike's truck right when the 3 of them first start running together, this would be early in the movie before they get pulled over by Lyle. I have the movie on DVD and the movie player on my computer allows screen captures, I can try to grab a few shots of his truck and post them if Im able to get anything decent. Aaronw
Sorry it took me so long, first I had to find some time, then the movie and finally remember how to take screen shots but here you go. Texas (Dawn) sorry I couldn't help myself Spider Mikes truck Spider Mike & Love Machine (Pigpen) and in case you need some spiritual guidance after you finish the truck There really are not that many good shots of Spider Mikes truck in the movie, I got some of the other trucks too if you need them for a later project. mackinac359
Frank Gortsema used to cast a resin Diamond T similar to this truck. Rick Mark owns Frank's masters now and should be back selling his fine resin products sometime this summer. Tim

Jim B
I don't know who "caroljoehammer" is, but he does amazing work! When I fiest saw that Mack show up on the screen, I couldn't figure out how he was going to ship a real Mack tractor from Germany to the US for $25. Then it dawned on me, it's a model stupid! Incredible.

Never have had a re-occurance and its been 16 years. I was told it tends to have a reduced effect as you get older so maybe you get lucky, at least there is something good about getting older. Diesel Gypsy
Tim, Ray, Aaron,& Dave. & to all those kind folk who took the trouble to send a personal message. My sinsere thanks. I'm doing ok, had a little relaps but nothing too major. Ray, your signature made me smile, "Hard times dont last, Truckers do", well how true is that ! Dam right, life aint all up hill in the crawler box, when ya get to the top of the hill called "hard", engage the Georgia overdrive & let the ol gal have her head, sit back & enjoy the ride. The KW is coming along slowly, I hav'nt done too much more, I'm finding it difficult to concentrate. I'll post some more pic when there's somthing to show. SpreadAxle
I'm glad it did. However, i can't take the credit. i got it from a t shirt I have that shows a 377 passing a rough road sign and it looks like the driver is going to go off roading. I love the saying though. I will eventually have it on the back of my rig, to remind some of us(myself included) that you have to outlast the bad times. Good luck to you.
