Ok so this is my latest project, the revell 67 gtx sox & martin, im going to build it my own style though, so far iv only built dodges and fords, plymouths were always abit too expensive for me but this was £10 so i couldn't say no really.

Some of you might think this project is abit fast but the charger is on hold until i get the parts for it and the mustang is the same, on hold until i get parts.

Quick Review - This is a very nicely moulded kit, it is very well detailed, all the parts fit correctly. There is some flashing on some parts but it is very thin, it can be snapped off eaisily with no damage left, this is one of those kit where you have to attach everything from the chassis to the door handles, over all this is an excelent kit.

This kit comes with a very nice 440 so im going to use it with some custom parts added.....

EDIT: It came with the 440 but the body says 426 on the side so im going to use a 426, iv test fitted the engine and it fits the mounts.

Also checked the date and it says 1994 and when i got it, it was still shrink wraped, instructions were still white rather then aged yellow so its been well preserved for 16 years, but im not bothered about how old a model kit is...i just want to build it.

Yea, I am a little cunfused. This is the motor that came with my Sox & Martin kit. I see the box in the background, but I think even the stock version had a HEMI.

this kit and the "Stock" GTX only ever came with a 426 Hemi, no 440's were ever included. you should have a nice set of headers and a racing style air cleaner assembly to go along with the scooped hood too. :lol:

Ah right, saves me getting a tranny for the other 426 then, this engine will have a supercharger on it so i hope it all fits under the hood.

Here are the wheels im thinking of using, im thinking gloss black with a silver lip, i stole them from a diecast mini cooper i got in a easter egg haha, the tyres look a bit small imo but i should be able to find some more.

My Father had the 1:1 68 GTX 440w which was factory in that year. The 68 came with either 440w or 440hemi(usually) now he has the 1:24 67 major downsize lol.

I would like to get the 68 gtx and the 66 nova ss 1:24 for him .

Thanks for the comments guys, i went to town yesterday to get an adapter for my paint gun but the lhs wasn't open for some reason so im going to have to get one online along with some O rings but i went to halfords and picked up 1lt of paint for my real car for free..saved me £15, it should cover what i need to paint on my real car but its also the colour im using on this car, i will get a good pic of the paint tomorrow as its 12:30am here but its a really nice deep metallic colour.

the Mini wheels look pretty good on the GTX! the only drawback is that they are 4-lug, but it's a model and you can get away with that kind of thing in the scale world. going that route however it could be cool if you ditched the Hemi for a slant six maybe and do a Euro or tuner styled GTX.

I was thinking of putting a a tuner engine in it for a change but i just need to get one. I have noticed there is some warping of one of the A pillars but once the rollcage is in and glass is glued in it should straighten it up. Here the paint colour keeping with the euro style gtx, british racing green with gold and silver met flakes.

It looks like is sits in very nicely, dare i say it suits the engine bay better then a v8.

Was it hard to make the new mounts for the engine?

I dunno...

An iconic lump of American Iron like a GTX kinda needs an cionic lump of motor to pull it around with authority. The ZX motor may fit in the engine bay, but it just doesn't 'FIT' the aura of the car. The GTX was a heavy fully-optioned car maybe 3600 pounds dry, not a lightweight. The real charm of the Hemi is the strump-pulling torque, useful for pulling all that weight, probably enough to take the low-profile tires apart in a block or so at full throttle.

As an example the Fast & Furious II movie car crew tried to put a turbo import motor in the Mustang feature car they built, but it wasn't strong enough to do the job onscreen so they used a Foird crate motor to perform the movie stunts.

Movie still stunk...

How aout a simulated Aluminum crate Hemi with the B&M supercharger/Accel injection unit that came in the AMT custom '68 El Camino, with the headers described earlier? That'd give the high-tech vibe you're angling for...

Oh, and the 440 was the standard engine in the GTX, the Hemi was optional...

Well....this project is unfortunatly canceled, all the parts of this kit will be for trade.

The reason is that parts are warped and i don't want to modify parts because i usually mess up and then that will be a waste of money, the chassis will sit level off the body but when on the body the front left wheel will lift, pics show but as i said everything from this kit will be for trade from the door handles to the body.
