Luis Ayala Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Chrome trees are always my worth nightmare. :x :x I have been using different products trying to achieve that mirror chrome look, but even with "alclad" the big pieces seem to turn out a little dull. Finally I think I found what would be the answer to my endless search for a reliable and affordable system to chrome parts. This company has a great variety of products; they have beatifull candy colors, prisma colors, etc. Take a look at this gorgeous candy colors. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/candyconc...candy_price.htm Now, when things get serious is here, watch this video and see for yourselvs   !!!!!!!!!! http://alsacorp.com/products/killercans/kc...c_chrome1_H.wmv
Steve H. Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 It looks pretty good, after seeing the demo. But... Their Killer Kans are $40! I don't see the chrome spray cans listed, so I wonder if they cost more? You have to ask yourself... Whats the price of a great paint job?
Ken Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Looks like great stuff. The price is a bit steep, but I believe that amount of pieces you could "chrome" would make the cost per piece a good value. Steve, the Chrome costs the same as well. From the video, it looks like you could get quite a bit of stuff painted with one can.
crispy Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 After seeing Bob Downie and the ACME club test on the available chrome substitutes, I'll stick to Alclad. Check out their photo test: http://public.fotki.com/grdeyed/model_cars-1/chrome-test/ Chris
Harvezter Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Beautiful looking chrome but WOW very expensive! I found the price here: http://www.alsacorp.com/Merchant2/merchant...ore_Code=Alsa_B
Steve H. Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 After seeing Bob Downie and the ACME club test on the available chrome substitutes, I'll stick to Alclad. Check out their photo test: http://public.fotki.com/grdeyed/model_cars-1/chrome-test/ Chris Thanks for that link... That really was informative! Looks like Spaz Stix is the overall best chrome. I'll stick to Alclad, also, unless I happen across some SS. I find that any chrome paint relies on the stuation in which its layed down. I've experienced both miserable failure and bright, shining moments with Alclad! $149 for the complete Killer set!?!? No thanks...
Zoom Zoom Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 I'll just be sending mine out to Chrome+. $15 to do a 6X8 inch tree and it is chrome. I really don't think that's very much when I can get around 14 or 15 bumpers and grills on a tree. A buck a peice?? That's not expensive. Chrome+ does great work! Best aftermarket chrome I've experienced. However I rarely have a need to get anything near a whole tree of chrome done anymore, and can't plan ahead much because I'm constantly building what I just bought. That's why Spazstix and Alclad II are good for me-they're instant gratification. I've heard that Tamiya AS-12 spray has a similar appearance, I'm going to grab a can of it to find out if it does look as good.
