aksarben Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) Hi all. This is my first complete car built in several years. Monogram "Judge" kit, stock wheels modified to fit tires from an old die cast corvette. The engine from a corvette kit also. Fairly simple, an easy flat paint job and went together pretty fast. The kit needed the scoop, vents under the front bumper and turning signals hollowed out but other than that no issues, a fun build, I just wanted a simple build to get something done as I have a camaro I've been stalled on for a year or so. Thanks for looking Edited May 23, 2010 by aksarben
Jeff Sauber Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Nice work, I like the engine bay detailing. Sinister looking Goat.......Like something from Mad Max, only with a modern engine setup.
kyledr330 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Sinister looking car! I love it! What did you use for the brake lines? Great details.
speedy5963 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I like this! I've got some ideas for something different to do in this style, kit just arived in the mail! Nice build!
rustybill1960 Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I like it! Basic black and the engine sticks out like a sore thumb! Great Build! And I like the Punisher feel, something he might drive on a day off! Great! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
aksarben Posted May 23, 2010 Author Posted May 23, 2010 (edited) Thanks all, yes it does have that "punisher" or "road warrior" feel to it, that is what appealed to me. I actually found a photo of the real thing on the internet which is what inspired the theme, except it didn't have this engine. Brake lines are just some thin wire I found at the hardware store, I don't even know what guage it is. Thanks again everyone. Edited May 23, 2010 by aksarben
KENNEDYJR Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 That's definitely a build with character,a car you wouldn't want to meet at a stoplight! That looks real tough, contrasts nicely with the modern power plant.
DRG Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I haven't built models in years, perhaps mid sixties. If this is a simple build, rather easy then I might as well forget getting back into this hobby. It looks fantastic to me.
Peter Lombardo Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Nice job, normally I don't care much for the flat black primer look, but it works well here, also, the engine really stands out with the bright yellow and all of the detail work done to it. The tires also fit it very well. Nice "first" post.
crazyjim Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 I like shiny paint but adore the details you did on your Goat.
nails3825 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Wicked angles on the first couple photos, the stance is perfect! Awesome job on the build ~ it looks mean with that dull paint.
PITTSBURGH412 Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 im diggin it real nice build and well off on the detail
Jantrix Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 I did something similar a couple years ago with the AMT Black Cat Cougar. I really like your GTO. I have something similar planned using the Monogram 69 GTO and the engine/drivetrain of the Revell 98 Firebird kit.
Scalper Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Looks killer. Stuntman Mikes next car. the wheels really stand out for them being black. engine looks great. My last model was a flat black 74 gtx.
shucky Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I agree with everyone else. Looks great and the engine detailing is fantastic. I kinda shrugged when I seen the flat black but the more I looked at the pics the more I liked it. It all fits and it came out great. Nice job!
aksarben Posted May 27, 2010 Author Posted May 27, 2010 Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I did resist temptation before finishing this build to shoot some clear coat over it, I couldn't decide which would look cooler, I'm now glad I didn't do it. That Cougar looks great Jantrix and I look forward to seeing your GTO.
Tony T Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Very nice build. I like the details, and execution. Beauty!!
CEKPETHO BCE Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Wow that is a nice color combo.... black and yellow black and yellow like that dumb song except I actually like this one haha
