MrObsessive Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Okay, I'm being stumped by a detail for my '64 Olds engine and can't seem to find any decent pics of it! Can someone tell me which side of the engine the fuel pump sits on for a '64 Olds 330? Looks like I'll have to scratchbuild one as there isn't one included in the '66 kit I'm working with. Thanks in advance!
Chuck Most Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 You HAD to ask this mere weeks after I got rid of a 1:1 example of an Olds 330, didn't you? Maybe I ought to start photographing stuff before I unload it, just for these occasions!
Chuck Most Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Looks to be on the passenger's side, just beneath the alternator in the photo. But, this is a '65 engine, and I think the Olds V8 underwent a few changes in '64. The location seems correct for the earlier engines, but I've had more experience with the late '70's to mid '80's versions of the Olds V8 (the doggy 260 and 307 versions) so I cannot profess to be an expert!
Len Woodruff Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Geez Bill I thought this post was going to be about how you scratch build a "working" fuel pump!
Harold Posted June 10, 2010 Posted June 10, 2010 Here's some pics I found on the Car Craft site. The pump appears to be mounted to the timing chain cover on the passenger side. I did a search for just 'fuel pumps, but couldn't find anything without slogging through page after page of drivel. Hope this helps.
MrObsessive Posted June 11, 2010 Author Posted June 11, 2010 Thanks Harold! Those two pics will come in mighty handy! Googling is nice, but I have limited time (and patience) to go through page after page of trying to find a decent pic. I notice the intake manifold is slightly different than the one I want use. Then of course I'm trying to use a three carb manifold and "fake it". No matter as this isn't going to be a show car, but something that's a lot better than just a curbside build.
