Lot's of great info there...
Fuel Coupe Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) Thanks Terry, I stumbled onto that site when I started the project.... Got the motor for the most part done ,few small details left return spring, fuel lines etc. those will be added once the motor is in the frame... This is the first time Ive used washes to bring out some of the details. Some of its a bit heavy handed but Im learning. Thanks for looking... Edited June 28, 2010 by TxRat

Longbox55 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Sweet build. For anyone interested in the AG '55, here's a site about it and it's current whereabouts.American Graffiti '55 Chevy
MyBradKeselowski Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 The engine is awesome, great detailing... Is Warren Oates GTO going to be next? You can't have the Two Lane without it racing the 55... LOL
ARTEMIS1759 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 So is the GTO next. I guess I neverknew the GTO was not a judge. NOT a Judge, but a standard GTO 455, painted Orbit Orange, with the "Rally II" stripes and spoiler optioned in (these items were standard on the Judge, optional on regular GTOs). Note that there are no "The Judge" emblems behind the front wheels.
AzTom Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Great build, can't wait to see that front axle finished. AzTom
Fuel Coupe Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 Thanks everyone. I have no plans to build the GTO. Im hoping someone will...
ARTEMIS1759 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Thanks everyone. I have no plans to build the GTO. Im hoping someone will... Maybe when I get back into modeling when I get home. Looked for a kit though and can't find one. Wonder if there is a resin body out there?
Fuel Coupe Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 Thanks everyone. The next couple of updates will concentrate on the front suspension. The chassis is painted semi gloss black which is pretty close to the 1:1. I will dirty it up once it's close to being finished... here are the coilovers I built using brass tubing, rather than gluing them I decided to solder them up. this pic shows the spring I made using a soft stainless wire, they'll be painted red and assembled permanently here's a side shot of the scratch built spindle, to can also see the radius arms in place.still got a bit of tweeking to do here to fix the caster.. straight on shot ride height, I think I got it....
ARTEMIS1759 Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 (edited) Shane, i think the 4-bar set-up should be much longer and parallel to the ground. the frame mounts for the bars should be back under the angled part of the firewall. i think someone posted the link to the TLB message board and there are some excellent pictures there. keep us posted! Dave Thats correct. They terminate under the firewall. Interestingly I always thought this had a raised A arm front suspension which was the alternate to the straight axle since the front end is way lower then a normal straight axle. I think you got the stance nailed down though. Just need to kick the 4 link back with longer bars and different mounts, Check out this illustration: http://media.photobucket.com/image/2%20lane%20blacktop%2055%20front%20suspension%20photobucket/Brock_62/55/Two_Lane_Blacktop_55_front_up.jpg http://media.photobucket.com/image/2%20lane%20blacktop%2055%20front%20suspension%20photobucket/Brock_62/55/Two_Lane_Blacktop_55_front_down.jpg This ink is how the car looked in the 80s when it was convered back to the AG days and before some idiot put a camaro subframe under it to make it more streetable. The side view is a few pics down. http://twolaneblacktop.yuku.com/topic/35/t/Now-In-Canada-TLB-39-55-Was-Modified-Some-More.html AND ANOTHER LINK TO THE RESTORATION THAT SHOWS THE AXLE: http://twolaneblacktop.yuku.com/topic/26 Edited July 3, 2010 by ARTEMIS1759
Fuel Coupe Posted July 3, 2010 Author Posted July 3, 2010 Went back and looked at my reference pics and I realized I messed up, Its corrected now...
ARTEMIS1759 Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Good reconstruction. Back on the right track. Can't wait to see this finished.

BigEdsGarage Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 (edited) This is a build I have wanted to do for years. I'll be following this one too. Looks very cool so far! Who can forget this scene..... Chevy block? Yeah. 396? 454 No S**t! What kind of transmission? 4 Speed You build the headers? Yeah How fast does she go? Depends on who's around. Edited July 9, 2010 by BigEdsGarage
Fuel Coupe Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 (edited) Here's a small update. I got the motor installed and the gearbox modified and in. I made a strengthening support for the firewall where the steering shaft goes through. I also ran the starter wires and alternator wiring. All boring stuff really but feel free to comment or ask questions... Edited July 10, 2010 by TxRat
crazyjim Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Got some great details going on, Shane. Looking good.
