Joe Handley Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 I'm looking to strip the damaged "black chrome" finish off a set of R/C Truck rims that I received second hand, but don't want to try and remove or damaged the tires while I'm at it. Any suggestions on what to try? The pics below are of the rolling stock in question and will probably use the same procedure on the equally damaged O.E.M. bumpers from the same truck that these wheels are for.
highway Posted July 4, 2010 Posted July 4, 2010 Three words: Dawn Power Dissolver!! I've found this is great and quick for removing chrome. The parts in the picture were dechromed in about 3-4 hours. I would say it would probably be safe on the tires, too, but if you have an old tire, I'd maybe test it on that before doing the ones in your pic. I wouldn't want you to be mad if it melted the tires!
Joe Handley Posted July 4, 2010 Author Posted July 4, 2010 Thanks guys, the guy I got these from was using them on an E-Revo Brushless Edition running on 22.2 volts....I had remounted a new set of tires on it after that truck destroyed a couple of them on a 6s run
