Has anyone here sent parts to ChromeTech and had them mount them to plate them?

I am worried that they might mount them to where the chrome won't be applied in a visible area once the parts ae mounted.

Just curious as to experiences others may have had?

It has been a very long time since I had them do some work for me, but they did a very good job. However,(don't ya hate howevers) like any contractor, if you leave it up to them, they will do the best they can, but they can't know every model. It is not that difficult to mount the parts to their specs. Get the instructions and do it yourself if you want to guarantee the results, plane and simple. If they need to redo the mount, they they will at least have your example to follow. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I know the tutorial very well but I have a LOT of little parts to mount......oh and i'm lazy too! B)

I guess I could make one rack and send it along with additional parts. That way they could see where I would like the attachment points to be.

I heard Chrome Tech is just a go between - they don't do any of the plating themselves. I don't know if it's true or not.

I've never had chrome plating doen - yet. As soon as some wheels I ordered from Time Machine Resin come in, they're going to Little Model Kar Co. in Reading, PA for chrome plating.

Hey Ben,

I send stuff to Robert, and he does not like how I mount parts, but he chromes them. I had the same concern as you. What I do is drill a hole in the part the diameter of a paper clip. I superglue the paper clip into the hole. I then superglue the paperclip to one of my runners on my 6X9 coat hanger rack and then zip tie the paper clip just to make sure. I mount very small parts by putting Evergreen rod (different sizes based on part) vertically on the runners and get my parts up away from the runners so that the chrome is all the way to the edge. There is always a place on the model part that will not show in the model. This is where I mount them to my rack. I only raise them up off the runners about an 1/8 of an inch at the most. If it's plastic to plastic I use Tenax 7R. If it's something else, I use superglue.

Hope this helps.
