Guest Mustang3.8 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) Hey, y'all. I finally found a new Tamiya Aston Martin DBS for a good price. I plan to build it as a spy car. Here's a pic of a similar car I seen in an episode of CSI:NY. I'm stuck on what color to do it. I've added a poll. I might also attempt to add a working "laser" beam on the underside of the car, like the CSI car had. Here's a pic of the box art to help with your vote. Edited July 7, 2010 by Mustang3.8
Romell R Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 (edited) I say HOK Platinum Silver but thats not one of the choices so i'll go with gun metal Edited July 7, 2010 by Aftashox
Monty Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 I'm inclined to go with Brandywine, but I'm trying to figure out why you'd want to paint over flat black. While it will darken the top color, which I assume is what you want, it also typically dries with a much rougher surface than, say, a dark primer. IIRC, Bluemoose does most of his "red" paint jobs over gloss black.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks for the tips, so far. Does anyone have any machine guns that they are not using that would work on this car?
LDO Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks for the tips, so far. Does anyone have any machine guns that they are not using that would work on this car? AFAIK, no one makes any modern light/general purpose machine gun in 1/24. I have a 16lb sledge that would work on it.
B_rad88 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 well fyi, that last pic is a vanquish not a DBS, and if you are going to replicate james bond's car.... then do everything like his car, the color, gadgets, ect. but thats my opinion!

Guest Mustang3.8 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 Thanks, Brandon. I know James Bond's car and the CSI car are both and Aston Martin Vanquish. I'm probably not gonna make my spy car exactly like James Bond's car, as it is a different model. Not my pic:

Guest Mustang3.8 Posted July 7, 2010 Posted July 7, 2010 i don't think I'll be doing it in pink, Mike.
CrewDawg15 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 Brandywine is a nice color, but I think that Millennium Jade would look really classy on this car.

Roadkill2525 Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I say Silk Cut colors like on the Jaguar XJR-9 LM
vizio93 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 Looks like Gun Metal is winning, so far. That's what I voted for man, any of those colors should look good though
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 I've decided on what color the Aston Martin will be. It will be gloss black. I also picked up some Tamiya Smoke to add a tint to the windows.
