Seems to me that a Superbird is radical enough without those kinds of wheels.

In the real world you'd be crazy to do that to a Superbird... but in the world of models, anything goes!

if i had enough money and could find a superbird i would be crazy enough to do this to a 1:1 superbird

If I remember correctly the Dobbertin twin turbo/megacharger small block Chevy wasn't really very functional- pretty much put together for looks and kind of an afterthought that it even ran at all

(kind of like most of the Pro-Fairground- oops I mean Pro Street cars were in real life- probably dating myself by admitting remembering when the 1:1's were around)

If it were a 1:1 the engine would be a definite downgrade in performance from factory stock (although multiple factory style pistol grips for the Lenco would be a sweet setup

LOL! I've never heard them referred to them as such, but that title does make sense!

I read that the J2000 did run. In fact Dobbertin used an extra light flywheel so it would rev quick like an indy car.

I know he drove it; what I don't know is how far he pushed it. The real limiting factor would have been a lack of travel in the rear suspension - even with the mono shock he installed later.

Pro Fairgrounds is a fitting term for the outrageous cars of that era.

cool concept and i like the idea :)

putting the twin turbo and twin supercharged set-up on the kit supplied 440 would have been really cool. i think i would have went with either an angled radiator similar to RX-7's or twin radiators on each side so that the Dominator wouldn't be sitting right in the path of all that hot air.

i don't know how well Dobbertin's J2000 ran either but the twin turbo'd and twin supercharged Chevy II he built before it did.

Dave

the position for some parts are not ideal, i have been reading some old magazine articles of the dobbertine J2000 and it did run, in one article they speculated about the horsepower and about 2000 something if that could be possible i don't know, that is the only horse number i have read in all articles and no information on dobbertine website either about engine performance??????
