RodBurNeR Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Well it took long enough. This is my first build of the year. I really struggled with motivation this year, too many things going on in real life. I restored this from a semi-glue bomb and some of the chrome isn't perfect, some of the parts aren't perfect. The problem I had was the windshield frame fit, it's still not as I would like it.....but it will be fine on my shelf! I did make the windsheild since the original was too rough. I want to thank Ron S. for the other header I was missing and Greg Holland aka VSRN for these decals he made! My goal was to get this thing restored before it's reissued....that's the fun in doing these old kits over again! I hope you like it.....I need to get another one going now! haha
gseeds Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 super clean build !!! nice job !!have you seen the real one someone built from the box art ?
RodBurNeR Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Thanks guys! Gary, yes I saw it and watched it online being built. I had a feeling the kit would be reissued because of it. I guess the new issue will have different wheels and some other changes?
The Modeling Hermit Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I like your last picture with the box. I had that kit when I was younger, but I can assure you that it didn't turn out anywhere close to as fine as yours is.
impcon Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 That is one nice, clean restoration! I can appreciate the work and effort that went into it. As for the reissues - let 'em bring 'em on, I say! But there is nothing like the old originals no matter what! Usually, someone has to meddle with the reissues and change something.
Guest Johnny Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 That is sweet! I always have liked the way that kit looks built like depicted on the box! Most i have seen were done differently by the builders. I have said it many times but it just seems some of the best builds I have seen and done were rebuilds of old kits that I or others had disgarded or never finished! Just seem to get more satisfaction out of saving one than building a new kit!
RodBurNeR Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 thanks everyone, I am glad to be done with it and glad you liked it!
Scalper Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) Nice work.. Edited July 27, 2010 by Scalper
henry57 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 One of my favorite kits, would love to find one to restore. Do have any before pics?
Robert81 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Great to see you got your Black Widow restoration done before Revell Reissues it in the fall. Really clean build and it looks perfect.
RodBurNeR Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Thanks! Here is a link to the progress. The photos are backwards...newest to oldest, so you can see "before". http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/finished-models/fomoco/black-widow-/
