Thanks for posting that pic Skip...that's exactly the look I'm trying to AVOID!!! :o

It looks like it could use a 'female undergarment'

I think once the triangular-ish grille area is reshaped, it will be more cohesive with the 'flow' of the body...

Maybe the big ol round headlights from the Johan Mercedes 500k kits. But pull them farther up into the valley between the grill and the fenders on a custom post.

The single biggest improvement/change(?) that I could suggest would be to re-shape those sharp points on either side of the front fenders down low and in front.

Thanks for the input everyone, the ideas help!

This was one element I thought was OK, I think I want to keep this leading edge wheel opening shape?

The shell is THIN styrene and IS a bit 'curled' in this area, once reinforced from behind it won't look quite like that in a direct frontal pic...

Really cool car! Good choice on the top and I love the side windows. Depending on how big of a grille you want to go with I have a few ideas. I like the 37 Ford headlights but, mold them into the frnders. For the grille how about something like the Whatthehaye by Boyd? Another idea is to use an upside down Aluma Coupe grille. Even a 53 Corvette grille turned on edge. Either way you may want to stretch the nose of the car down a bit. I understand the design process and how things can change on a whim. I like that you are seeking advice. It was the people on here that gave me some awesome ideas on my 49 Merc. I will be looking forward to seeing your progress.

You might consider a retro/future look. Use side trim in the F&F mode, continue it over each front wheel opening, around to the front where it dips enough to match the hood and extends across the front. Then put tiny projector lamps where the front bar goes between each fender and the hood (and maybe swell that area of the bar a little). For the grille, perhaps a V shape with rounded corners to give some agressive personality. I'd attempt to draw this concept, but I know how badly I draw. Color? Maybe a bright yellow body and chartreuse for the trim, with a silver wire centered on the trim and either above the headlights, or both above and below. I don't recall seeing anything like this before.

Speaking of wheels, I think this body cries out for simple, dish-style wheels, either steel with hubcaps or full disc style, like the XK 120.

The wire wheels look good .

The top looks good .

The side looks good .

The lack of grill is what is giving you and us the trouble with the front.

I think that the front of the hood is a bit to sharp for flow of this good looking body.

thats so unique and cool looking , i imidiatly got an idea when reading about the headlights ..

they now look a bit like they look up into the sky ..

the 40's ford headlights where so much better

it would be awsome if you could make some small dropshape buldges where the headlights are now (use the cars shape as reference) and make the headlight fit against those only have to be a small piece witch can then becomes the bodycolor and have the 40's ford lights against that with a chrome bevel

would also really incorporate them into the design of the car

i would even suggest putting them further to the outside to accentuate the width of the car

awsome build
