I'm attempting to set up a PayPal account and they aren't being very helpful in answering my questions.

I do not have a bank account, I would be using a prepaid credit card. If I were to sell something on Ebay could I transfer the money FROM my PayPal account onto my credit card?

The only way PayPal would allow you to transfer to a credit card is to get the PayPal credit card. Then you're supposed to be able to transfer money to the credit card balance. I think Marc's suggestion of a Paypal debit card makes more sense. Of course the problem is before you get to that point, you have to have money in the account which would require someone to pay you or transfer money from a bank account. You could always sell something on eBay but before you do, you need a credit card on file to pay for the listing fees.

I think you're a victim of eBay/PayPal's trying to squeeze every penny out of you possible.

Wish I could be more encouraging.

The problem with the Paypal debit card is, they say I have to verify my account, which means I have to add a bank account. The only thing I use banks for is to cash my checks, I won't have an account anywhere. They also say I have to have a premier account.

It would be wise to open an account just for PayPal purposes, but never put more money in it than you can do without.

Important...set it up so you can utilize and monitor it online

I have a "mad money" account set up just to handle PayPal and other online transactions and I do monitor it frequently.

Even though PayPal has it "naysayers"...I prefer it to other methods of doing transactions online

If you are going to open a pay Pal account - then keep in it just what you need to because if someone get;s their knickers in a knot with you for any reason ( just or unjust ), Pay Pal will sieze your account until the dispute is settled - and I can tell you from past experience - if you think that you are going to be treated fairly all the time or have any rights - you can forget it. I know a guy who was selling car parts on Ebay and they froze his account because of a false accusation. It took weeks to getthe matter resolved - he has never sold on Ebay again and since Ebay now only allows Pay Pal as the ONLY means of payment, he refuses to contribute anything to their cause. We use e-cheques through Pay Pal now.. if the seller doesn't accept them then we don't buy from him.

From past experience with Ebay, like I said, they do not always rule in the favour of common sense. I bought a die cast from a guy and I basically stole it for his opening bid. He was choked with me so he wrapped it in soft cardboard and mailed it. It arrived destroyed and his comment to me was "What do you want for $5.00?" I filed a complaint and forwarded ALL of the correspondence between us as well as the auction picture ( which he removed when the case went to PayPal ) which showed the car intact. Pay PAl ruled in the seller's favour and we had no recourse. Just a warning.......

I won't be selling on Ebay, I was just using that as an example, and I only buy from specific sellers too. I guess I'll have to open a bank account just for selling purposes.
